creating more area
« on: February 11, 2005, 04:39:56 AM »
Lately I have noticed that I have
started to rev the ball more, almost
like what we USED to call a spinner.
Not what we may think of as a spinner
today but putting more side turn and
follow thru on the ball. Oddly enough
I have also seen my swing area expand
greatly. I know that revs = power, but
does it also mean more area?

Interested in your ideas and input.
Thanks

Increased revs do give you a little more area, in the sense that if you leave a shot a little too far outside, it will recover off the dry, and if you tug it inside, the ball will slide down the oil line.  While high revs are nice at times, they also become difficult to control when the lanes break down, and can leave some nasty splits when you come in a bit high or even just a bit late.

more revs do increase area, as well as alot of axis rotation can send pins in all sorts of directions (messengers).

you sacrifice hitting the mark, though. power = less control... generally. an accurate cranker is dangerous.

i don't care who makes it, how much it costs, or how sexy the ball looks. can i carry the 7 and level the deck with a $60 ball?
