Bowling in Memphis
« on: December 10, 2009, 04:00:24 AM »
Bowling in Memphis SUCKS. Now with that said, I want to try to make it better. I am thinking of starting a website called... Memphisbowling.com. The goal would be to have a single location where bowlers in Memphis can find out information such as:
1. Scheduled Tournaments
   a. Winners
   b. standings
2. Where pot bowling exists
3. Weekly highlights (honor/award scores)
4. Provide articles/interviews from/with
   a. USBC Officials ( any official commentaries)
   b. Proshop Operators (describing layouts or equipments
   c. Coaching Tip
   d. Bowling Center Propriators
5. A Calanedar of events
6. Blogs or Forum

Advertising - Bowling Center / Pro Shop specials... (to offset costs)

I know I have talked with many people who simply does not know about things such as pot games or tournaments. As well there is at least one proprietor that will not allow solicitations in his center.

Any thoughts?

What bowling center do you bowl at? im originally from Memphis and I used to bowl at Winchester Bowl and Bartlett Lanes. Back in the day, the spot was Cherokee lanes and that used to have some big time action games. I havent bowled in Memphis for a while but plan to bowl the Bill Rhodman tournament. That's a great ideaa what you trying to do to spice up the bowling scene in the M-town. I can say i miss my family but the city I dont miss at all

I live near Jonesboro, AR and have bowled in Memphis some.  Bartlett is a decent house but I despise Winchester for the simple reason I have never bowled well there.  I bowl a monthly traveling scratch tournament series based out of the Little Rock area called ASBT.  It is a well run tournament series and pays fairly well.  We bowl the first Sunday of every month.  We have two stops in Memphis each year, one in Jonesboro, and several in central Arkansas accessible from Memphis via a couple hours on the interstate.  The website is www.bowlasbt.com.   Some of the Memphis players who bowl it could probably explain it more if needed.  Off the top of my head there's Kenny Corley, Brian Kuykendahl, Tony Campagna, Jim Wolcott, Justin Williams, Carl Barsotti and probably a few more all from the Memphis area that could give you more information if needed.

Mr Hurt, I bowl at all the houses here in Memphis and might have a unique advantage to do this.

mw11x300 , Yes my partner and I finished 2nd at Bartlett in the ASBT this past weekend. Bartlet and Winchester are both owned by the same people but have different conditions. Winchester is better scoring for lefties in general. But other houses here are great too, Strike Zone is the highest scoring house and Collierville you have to go more straight at them (Carry is tough going left to right). Billy Hardwicks has the biggest and best league for bowlers on Wednesdays but also has the largest volume of oil in the city. BTW, I know all those bowlers and you need to add my name to your list, Tom Berish (my son is Tommy Berish). I will be 50 very soon and Justin Williams dates my daughter. HAHA
