« on: July 29, 2004, 01:58:17 AM »
Ok so when i bowl, my 1st 2 games are fine, but the ni get into this streak of bad habits the next frew games, its been happeneing for a few weeks, and the problem is that i start to lose most of my side roll and is generally rolling straight. I know theres some major mental problems there but can somone help me with this strange problem? i mean im not getting tired yet and im still doing it so i doubt its fatigue...

move out of the dry spot you have created, sounds a little like the ball may be losing energy, if you're right handed move left a little on the approach..

Don't know you,
If it's a drinking lane and you have a beer to relax..... hmmm
If it's a social thing...... gabbing with others comparing lane conditions, scores could be mental distraction that you're not aware of.
Do you concern yourself with wins and loses or simply bowl to do your best?
Food for thought.

All of us have come across something like this, except it usually inst permenat. Like suddenly dropping your shoulders, suddenly increasing approach speed, pullign the ball, stuff like that.

It is a mental thing. How to fix it, I dont know..

Took me years to get past the mental block of a good game!
If I bowled more than 40 or more pins over a game, I'd try to hard to repeat it. I hated having a great first game, those were my lowest series until I beat that block.

Got to share a funny story. Happened last summer.

I was bummed because I didn't get 11 in a row! Had my highest game ever!!! 275 or 278, can't remember exactly. I wanted that 11, around our house the guys have all sorts of plaques up. HIghest series ever, 657.

Got home, my son said I didn't want to say it around the other's but you pulled a ***** tonight.

Inside joke. This guy bowled his first 300 during summer leagues, rather than being excited, he complained the rest of the night about being tapped!!! Everyone thought that was terrible.

The next week, I went in MSS Cocky Attitude.
Bowled a 98 the first game!!!!!
Got humble and serious.
Second game I had a 120 in the fifth, did some messing up then whined I messed up my 230 games.

Son looks at me and says something like, well last week 275 wasn't good enough nothing pleases you mom!!
