Bowling leadoff
« on: September 28, 2004, 10:38:21 AM »
I just started bowling leadoff in my Thursday mens league and I need a little advice. I have two questions and here they are. First, At the start of the night which team goes first? And second, Should I always wait for our anchor to finish his frame on the opposite lane before I bowl? I've seen it done differently and want to know the proper way.

It varies with the area you live in. Sometimes left, sometimes right.
Sometimes it makes no difference at all; no one really cares.
But what difference does it make?

Common sense.
I'd rather wait until our anchor throws his first ball, before I, when I am leadoff, throw mine for the next frame.

Basically you don't want one team to be so far ahead of the other. I've seen the 5th man bowlign on one team while the 1st man of the other team hadn't finished his frame yet. If that happens, then the finished team has to wait forever when bowling the next frame.

Common sense.
