my observations/comparisons
« on: April 17, 2009, 04:22:03 AM »
purchased a storm hy road, virtual gravity, hammer hot sauce, and the ebonite one pearl.  all were drilled 70x6x25, i am a tweener with more hand than ball speed.  all balls were oob.  got to the lanes at opening time, synthetics, fresh oil ths pattern.  first out was the vg, it showed promise, came back to the pocket even when i got it farther right than intended, did not hold pocket well if i got inside my target.  i want to work with it several more games before deciding if it can replace my morich awesome revs with which i have bowled several 279's.  the one pearl was a pleasure, it had  some forgiveness on the outside and some hold area when i got inside of target, it has found a place in my bag.  the hammer hot sauce left a bit to be desired after throwing the one pearl, i found i didn't have the area or the carry when i found the pocket, i will work with this one some more before making a decision.  the hy road didn't blow me away either and would be my last choice of these, i will devote some time to surface adjustments to the hot sauce and hy road.  i don't think i wasted my time and money, i definitely got a winner with the one pearl and possibly the vg.  it also seems to confirm my feeling that i match up better with asymmetric cores.  nothing scientific, very little conclusive, just my observations.

You drill balls for different looks on different patterns...if they aren't matched up to what you were bowling on, they won't create the same amound of area.  You can't compare them from an area creating standpoint on the same pattern.

Example: HyRoad will probably roll better on the Cheetah and create more area, but the opposite would most likely be true on the Shark.
