Title: Bowling memorabilia.
Post by: Ernie McCracken on May 28, 2004, 09:52:13 PM
Okay, so I have this room in the house that I want to set up in a bowling theme.  Where can I find bowling pictures, memorabilia, and the like?  If you know of any places or have any ideas for the room, please post here!

Thanks King!  This is a great start.  Who else has ideas?

If you can afford it, buy one of the masking units from the ABC 100th in Knoxville. It'd be a great anchor piece around which you could decorate with a lot of smaller bits of memorabilia. There are still several for sale on the bowl.com website.

I wonder what the New Bowling Pin I have autographed is worth!!  The signatures on it are:

Parker Bohn Jr.
Walter Ray
Steve Neff
Brian Voss
Johnny Petraglia
Danny Weismann
Jason Couch
Norm Duke

I might be willing to part with it for the right price, but it is just a consideration at this point.

How much do you think you want for that pin Saw Mill?

Not sure if I am going to get rid of it, but I might consider it if the offer was right enough.  I am not positive what something like that would go for, but I am sure that out of a shop would be more costly than person-to-person.  Decide what it is worth to you, and I might consider it; afterall, an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, regardless of the sticker price is.

Debina,
Do you have a link to where they are selling the masking units?

Also - I just found a bud light bowling sign at an antique store.

I'm planning on putting a piece of black velvet or something on the wall, and pinning patches and pins to it. I have awards of mine and my folks going back over 50 years.

I have a window top treatment made out of bowling fabric.

I've been planning this room for a couple of years, and my son is FINALLY moving out in the next week or two.

I was also thinking about finding some bowling alley carpeting, and getting it bound in a room size piece for the floor. Opinions???

Every year at the Susan G. Komen Foundation bowl for the cure in Dallas they have a silent auction. Last year I picked up a Walter Ray Williams Jr. autographed Hammer ball and towel for $35 and the year before I bought a Kim Terrell autographed shirt and poster for $35.  I've seen Chris and Linda Barnes stuff, PWBA autographed pins and lots of other things.  I got Barbara Chrisman's autograph there at the event.  It's a good place and a great cause.  I don't know about the Milwaukee function and if it has any of the same.

I like the idea of bowling carpet.  That'd be pretty cool.  Also, if you do an Ebay search for Bud bowling and Bud Light bowling I've seen a few items that might be worth bidding on.

Thanks for putting up that link to the bowl.com masking units, White Dot! See what happens when I don't log onto the site first thing in the morning? I actually miss questions directed to me. Ah, well, sleeping in was the better option after a busy holiday weekend!

Oh, yeah. Don't forget the table top made from a pin deck. I'm working on getting one.

I have enough bowling memorabilia in my house to get a good start on a museum.

Hmmmm. Maybe one day I'll do just that!
