Problem with release

Hey guys, I'm new at bowling (i started 5 months ago). And I've got a problem with my release. You see, I've learn that when you release your hand has to reach by your ear. Well when I release, I end up twisting my wrist to the right and not bringing up my hand. I bowl a decent game with it. I've tried to do it like it should be, but I can't seem to do it. When I do, my shoulders hurts(dislocation---- injury from years back).And with the way I trow it, it hooks like a lefty's ball (left to right). I wonder i it is OK to bowl like this or should I try changing? I've even tried a glove.. it doesnt work.

Can anyone help me with this poblem????

It's because the hand by your ear thing is for normal hook bowlers.  A glove won't help you with that.  What you describe you do with your arm is why you have a left to right hook.

Most people would say to switch over to a normal hook, since you'll probably be able to progress further than with your back-up ball (what we call that).

If you wanna be a serious bowler, get a local coach to help you out.

EXPERT .. I'M NOT! I can only tell you from my own experience. When I first started bowling I was doing EXACTLY the same thing. Had a BACK UP ball and was throwing decent games. My problem was the balls I was using were not drilled for ME.  Once I got a ball drilled by a good driller that BACK UP ball disappeared. All the info provided prior to my comment is excellent ..

Hey thanks for your help. And I just bought a new ball, and it will be drilled on Tuesday. Actually I trow two balls... an old EBONITE Rainbow (i know its old)and my new ball is a BRUNSWICK groove urethane. Hopefully drilled good I'll get rid of this BACK UP ball release.JOE FALCO, I think you are right, the ball i trow with now isnt drilled for me... when it's drilled ill tell you guys how its going
