It has something to do with not filling out the proper IRS forms for a number of years.  It looks very serious.

If it's due to IRS paperwork Jeff Richgels aka riggs posted an article about the IRS issue on his blog: http://www.11thframe.com/page/blog_id_5106 (http://www.11thframe.com/page/blog_id_5106)

It's not just a bowling issue but an issue with all nonprofits keeping their tax exempt status.

Looks like the organization is shut down for good because they lost an appeal.  It may be a mess for a while in Tarrant county and it is also the home area for USBC.  I thought from reading the article it made a strong statement in many ways.

So what does this really mean for Fort Worth bowlers? Will there be no sanctioned leagues in the GFWUSBC next season?

From what I gather it means that the individual secretaries are sending their sanctions directly to USBC so there will be sanctioned leagues.  Sounds like city tournaments may be an issue.  All the functions that the association performed like average year books are gone until a new association is created.  I am not sure what all happened and what is going to happen.  I have dealt with a 1 center association and there are a lot of things that are handled between USBC, the bowlers and proprietors by the associations,  averages, awards, lane certification etc.

Well it gets even better.  2 weeks ago the USBC revoked the charters of 77 associations.  This is roughly 3% of the associations.  The reason is repeated non compliance with filling out IRS forms.  My understanding is that only 1 association has had it's charter revoked prior to 2 weeks ago.  Ft. Worth has to now rely on help from neighboring associations and or create a new one with new officers.  This effects tournaments, sanctioned leagues, awards, average books and other functions.  Hopefully they will get things straightened out but the previous Ftw. association is history.
