Bowling on Brunswick System 2000 synthetics
« on: April 24, 2016, 06:05:10 PM »
I'm going to be heading up north to the Toronto/Mississauga area for a few and plan to spend some time at Classic Bowl or Club 300.  To my knowledge, both places still use the older Brunswick System 2000 surface.  One of the few places that may have used it in the past was Northrock Lanes in Wichita before replacing to Pro Anvilane a few years back.

I'm posing this question as I've never bowled on that specific surface before.  None of the centers in Buffalo have it (either Pro Anvilane, HPL or wood), and I don't think any centers in Rochester, NY or Erie, PA have it either.

If I recall correctly, System 2000 tends to have some decent friction on it but can also play fairly slick.  If any of you have bowled on it before, what's it like with the reaction and transitions?

Age of the surface is the biggest issue.  Armor plate is going to be at least 20 years old
surface is going to be heavily tracked from 10 board inside 15.  Old armor plate often plays like inside track on wood unless they are really good way outside.

Club 300's surface is in pretty good shape on most lanes, some are certainly showing their wear. I used to bowl in leagues there 10 plus years ago and still have the odd lesson there. I was under the belief that the lanes were redone with a more modern surface some time ago.

If you are heading to the area later this summer you may want to give Club 300 a call as they are closing at some point this summer although an official date I don't believe has been announced.
