I am a lofter, have been since I started bowling 3 years ago. When the ball leaves my hand at the line its about 8 inches off the lane, and makes contact about with the lane about 5-6 feet out.

That's how it's done properly.  Imagine a jet landing (instead of crashing in flames).

I am trying to get the ball in as much oil as possible. Its just the way I roll, I am working on it. To launch a ball 4ft high 20ft out, I would get banned from the 2 houses I bowl at, and be labeled a rectum!
