I have been bowling most of my life. Up until this year I have always ave 200+ in at least one league. I haven't did that this year, and I think I am starting to see why.

My arm really hurts when I get threw bowling on the first night. By the 5th frameof the first night it starts hurting, around the end of the 1st game it is hurting on the 2nd night. After practice on the 3rd night it really hurts then and it makes me not want to bowl.

I had a friend of mine tell me to put an elastic bland on my arm right below my elbow. Well That seemed to help for about 3 months. My ave started going back up and all was getting better. But it only lasted for about 3 months.

I was thinking about going down to a lighter weight ball and see if that helped any. I currently throw 15# equipment. Thinking about trying 14# and seeing if that helped.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

The place that actually hurts is the right side of my arm in the middle from my wrist to my elbow. Maybe I am bowling all wrong I don't know. But I know it hurts to the point that I want to quit bowling.

"maybe I'm bowling all wrong",....see a coach or a good pro shop guy, you're doing something that's hurting your arm and maybe they can spot it and help.

There are various reasons as to why someone could be feeling this kind of pain...but seeing your pro-shop guy, etc. is a good place to start. If the pain is in your forearm and not your elbow it sounds like the following could be happening:

1. You muscle the ball a lot on the down swing
2. You are trying to hit up too hard on the ball
3. You have the start of tendonitis
4. Maybe your pitches are off causing you to really squeeze the ball
5. Others that I can't think of right now...

Dropping the weight could help...but it's hard to tell from here!?

May I suggest that you highlight that last sentence in bold and italics; so, he sees that that should be the FIRST thing he does, not the last.

So your arm is not permenently messed up, see the doctor first, especially if the situation is like you describe. He may just recommend what Doc says, but better be safe than sorry. BTW Sawbones really is a doctor!

Chiropractors, IMHO, are mostly quacks. What do you want, temporary relief, or a permanent fix? Sure there are things that I'd see a back cracker for, but not if I was in pain.

I talked to a Dr today and he suggested that I "change what I am doing that makes it hurt". He has bowled a bit but he didn't tell me to change the pitch or size. He did tell me to change whatever makes it hurt. He also said it might not hurt to either take some time off or try to add a different arm band or add another arm band. Keeping the tendon tight he said might help. I will get another brace sometime this week before I bowl this weekend. I would also like to maybe change the pitch or the size of the ball I am throwing.

I really don't know if I bend my elbow, but I am a mechanic by trade (so they tell me anyway). I have been a member of this forum for some time, and have read alot of cool stuff on here, traded some equipment around, and tried some stuff I have seen others talking about. I do think that alot of people on this board are smart about bowling and know what they are talking about. I am planning on going up to the meet this weekend. Maybe I will learn something there.
