Bowling rings
« on: September 05, 2008, 08:52:49 AM »
How often do you wear your bowling ring/s?  I know in the past, it used to mean something and people were proud to wear them.  Now, I see 1 out of 150 in my scratch league wearing his bowling rings during league.  To be honest, the only time I pull my rings out of storage and wear them is during nationals.  I forgot to this past year.  Good thing too because I didn't shoot all that great.

I wear my rings at tourneys or at my banquets at the end of the year.

Never... They are all at home in a cabinet me and my wife have for our collectibles..

To be honest with you, there have been so many honor scores the past 10 years, the rings really don't mean much anymore..

I hate to say that, but its true..

You got that right. I have not worn mine since I "retired". I am bowling part time this year, maybe 10-12 weeks tops.

I don't wear mine it sets on the shelf with the other awards.

Besides it's too big for my hand, the stone is so gawdy and cheap looking.

I wear mine all the time.  For each year I shoot a 300, I take the one off from the previous year and always wear the new one.  I still get people from gas stations to restaurants wanting to know what it is.  Being that I did not have a great childhood, any recognition from anyone keeps me wanting to go back and try again.  If I do wear a ring, only a 300 or 800 comes out.

I only wear mine when I go bowling.  I'm right handed, so I don't feel comfortable having it on my finger while I bowl.  Instead I put it on the necklace that I wear.
