Early hooking balls easier to control?

In comparing my predator pursuit to my primetime, I find that the predator which is an early hooking ball, much easier to control.

Does anyone agree that early hooking balls are easier to control? if you think otherwise please state why.

although it's probably a good idea to have both reactions in your arsenal,..I personally prefer arcing stuff or mid-lane reading stuff....

There's a time and place for both,...most bowlers that compete for a living have gone to mid-lane/arc drillings,...control and consistancy topping the list.
Skid/flip is fine for a few games, but on most conditions the dry backends usually required for this reaction soon go away, and the dreaded wet/dry rears it's ugly head. Skid/flip to me is a risk reward,..mid-lane/arc is money...jim

I agree with all the posts. I find that rev-rates are very touchy with skid/flip equipment and often leave 2,10 combinations when I dont quite catch it normally. But when I have that not quite perfect relases with arc/mid-lane reading layouts I seem to still get to the pocket...albeit typically weak 10's or similar, it does have some chance to strike and it certianly does leave me makable spares.

The offset to this is, that entry eangle is reduced which reduces the potential for striking on off hits.

On conditions where the breakpoint is easy to find or if you can bank the ball to the dry outside (translation: wall), then a skid-flip reaction is unbeatable due to the entry angle and tendency to strike more. On sports shots and most tournaments where the conditions are not THS, the money balls are midlane-arc balls. Of course, some bowlers can probably excel at skid-flip balls even in challenging patterns but I would think these are exceptions.

I concur with Rockbowler. The one skid/flip ball I have is unreal on THS, as I can carry galore and know that as things dry up to move inside a little and hit the wall and it will drive to the pocket. But most of the houses I encounter are not walls, and that's why the majority of my equipment is of the arc variety and keeps me in the game- I may sacrifice a little carry but I usually can leave easy spares and still peg out decent scores.

I don't really consider my primetime to be a skid/flip tpe of ball.

Its a particle pearl finish, medium length type of ball.  Predator being a sanded particle finish with early length.
