Bowling Stadium - Reno
« on: February 13, 2004, 12:55:56 AM »
I just heard something wild from a guy that comes
in our pro shop. He said that the lanes/stadium to
the right of the stands are slanted (settling) and
the only way to correct it is to tear it up after this
years tournament. Suposedly, it is the side toward the
train tracks. If this is the case, I hate to be on those
lanes for the nationals ! Can anyone confirm this ?

There is a slight tilt, BUT the lanes are all within specs.
Most lanes do tilt slightly one way or another - left to right, right to left, front to back, or back to front (or a combination thereof)

I used to live in Reno, and knew the folks responsible for certifying the lanes. So yes - it's true, but no big deal.

If I bowl on the high end and don't bowl well, I'll agree with you and confirm it must be the lanes that are sloped down or left.......

Seriously though. this information came from someone who really knows alot about the game and has hed success in the highest levels of bowling. I imagine if it is true that there will be alot od ticked off people. It would be interesting to see a pair by pair composite average of the entire tournament to see if averages towrd the high end go down.

Maybe this is the reason the Masters TV final was bowled on lanes 7-8?

If you go to the Foundation 300 website, Kegel posted some samples, through graphs,  of what the topography at the NBS has to offer.

I have heard that there is a lot or remodeling that is going to be done after evrything is done this year. Some of what I heard is that they are going to taked the lanes out and lift them up to help with the vibrations from the tracks. I also heard  that they were going to move the big bleachers down closer to the center of the staduim. Don't know how true that is just different things I have heard.
