Does any NEW GUNS on Tour throw like Duke!
« on: February 09, 2009, 07:02:21 AM »
Any more most of the New Talent out on tour are stand left throw right. High Speed and High Revs. (Lots a power).

Duke justs lays it out there. Strikes don't always look pretty but they are strikes.

I can see it effective but what about Dukes game. Is their anyone out there trying to emulate his style. It seems to me at a PRO level some of these guys could do what Duke does or can they?

Talkin' Trash!

Duke can do two things better than anyone else on the PBA Tour: throw a bowling ball, and snort lines.

This is Norm Duke we are talking about here!!!!!

Not A-Rod!!!

Though I understand your comparison, I hardly think that amphetamines and bowling agree to much.  It really wouldnt lead me to believe it would be "performance enhancing" more like detrimental.

Brodieman,  lets not beat around the Bush here.  Are you saying that Norm Duke uses drugs or not???

Now we are talking about Norm Duke, right, not Pete Weber, right?

A simple yes or no will do.

thankyou

Hard to believe someone would bring that up even if it's true!
You gotta be kidding me......

I'm a 6 handicap in golf and smoke 2 - 3 reefers every round.
Does that diminish my abilities?  NO!

I don't believe Duke does drugs, but even if he did, it doesn't
change the fact that he's the most versatile player on tour.

If by throwing the ball like Duke you mean completely destroying your opponets line with a 90 grit high flaring ball during 8 minutes of practice before the title match, then I also ask myself that question.  Why don't more young guns throw the ball like Duke?

Or how about that time at the Masters he put some double sided tape on his slide shoe and convieniently took a few "practice slides" in the area where his left handed opponet was playing in match play?

Or how about his excessive calls for "tape" by taping the thumbhole of a ball he's not even using to stall for time or ice a hot opponet?

Or how about any other of the under-handed and under-minding tactics this two-faced elf has used to build a career on while putting on a good-guy image for all of you fans?

Why don't more guys throw it like Duke?  You don't even wanna know.

And you honestly think he's the only guy to do this?
Give your head a shake  !!!!
I've talked to more than a couple of guys on the PBA Tour who confirm that
the kind of stuff you mention is very commom.  You do "WHATEVER IT TAKES" to
get an advantage.  No different in other sports.  Especially the NFL.

Reality check, baby!

Is this against the rules?

I actually recall someone on this site (in a PBA tournament) did this during a head to head match. NOT just in practice.

Again...Is this against the rules?

Now this one I find interesting. This definitely sounds like a dirty tactic, but if someone saw him do it (Unless he confessed to doing it at a later time) why wasn't he called on it? Or is this a rumor...someone heard...someone said...that someone else was talking to Duke's friend...who said that Duke said he did something.

Why don't you ask Art Brown what Norm Duke did to him in matchplay at the 2005 Masters.  Stopped the poor kid dead in his tracks and he fell right into the lane.  Sorry to break the bad news about your precious God, Norm Duke.  There's also no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny.

These definitely aren't rumors, these are real, "when keeping it real goes bad"

Loschetter also did the "burn up oppenents track" and Voss made it widely known the last 4 frames of the game, that this is what happened.
If I ever get to bowl against Duke in a title match, I'm going to play 15, right into the gutter at 46 feet with plastic and let him burn up my inside line with 90 grit, and have a grand old time in the match.[/quote]

What ball will you use?  Will it be a lane one plastic ball?   Oops

Like I said.....Give your head a shake!
Many others do it, not just Duke!
If you believe that, then you obviously just don't like Duke!
And that's your right, but don't believe he's the only one to
do crap like that.  I KNOW that's not true!

Are you sure about that? I still get presents under my tree at Christmas. You just got to believe!!!

This tape thing still doesn't make sense to me. It seems like a clear violation of the rules. And then we have others on here stating that it has been done by other PBA players.

The whole burning up someone's line. Sorry don't buy it....anyone complaining about someone burning up "THEIR LINE" is a cry baby. Grow up! You don't own a line the lane...your opponent can throw any ball (that is legal) down lane. If he chooses to throw over your line...you better find a new line or change equipment (That's the modern game now).

I guess we need to have an update to the rules. Before each match a bowler must DECLARE his line. He or she can change lines twice in game, but must declare the new line. A referee will watch each bowler and make sure they are staying within their line. If a bowler goes in or out of their line on a throw and the referee cannot make the decision, the throw will go to INSTANT REPLAY!!
Now that there is BOWLING INSTANT REPLAY....each bowler is allowed two challenges, if both challenges are correct...he or she will be granted a third challenge within the game.
