Bowling This Month or Bowlers Journal International
« on: June 19, 2009, 11:22:03 PM »
Hey everyone,
For Father's Day, my family is getting me a subscription to one of the bowling magazines out there.
What are your thoughts on Bowling This Month or Bowlers Journal International?
Which do you think is a better choice?

The subscription price for BTM is: 2 years for $63
and for BJI it is: 3 years for $54

I'm leaning toward BJI....

Thanks for your input

I have BJI and just ordered BTM.

I've read both magazines and for me BTM's articles are much better.

I havent received my first one yet so dont go just by me but from just what ive read BTM seems much more detailed and what I would rather have.

If you want instruction and ball reviews, go BTM.  BJ has more industry type articles where in my opinion BTM is more bowler oriented.

I have both but sometimes labor to get through all the industry info that is in Bowlers journal..  BTM is a much more enjoyable magazine to read and has more tips and info for the recreational and serious bowler.  Bowler's Journal is bordering on an industry trade magazine.  Its not that bad but there are alot of articles about making more money for your center or the industry. Only maybe 1 or 2 articles about helping your game..  BTM is almost all that..

I like the BTM ball reviews better too..

It's all in what you want to get out of the magazines. I would agree with what the others have already said.

Some pro shops and bowling centers have copies of BTM and BJI available for their customers to browse.  See if you can find one of those places to compare both magazines before you make your decision.

Edited to add:

Like others have already said, both magazines offer different bowling perspectives and interesting articles, but if I had to just choose one, I would go with BTM.

I get BJI. As all have said it is more industry based. I like it for the Ball reviews that Joey Cerar does.

Absolutely BTM. BJI seems to exist mainly as a PR avenue for Jeff Boje and Tom Clark.
