About six months or so ago, I posted I was ready to quit. I had been working with my coach for some time and was not seeing things getting any better. In fact, my scores were on the decline.
I received a ton of support from many of you here, and for that I am greatful. I didn't give up on my coach and he never gave up on me. Finally things are coming together. I have shot a few 250+ games and 600+ series. My low scores are in the 140's (though I do toss in a 120 from time to time).
Tonight was one of those confidence building nights. My sport league where I had a 158 average on the sheet. Game 1, with a 60 in the 5th I went on to shoot a 165. Game 2 another 165. Game 3 184 and game 4 a 190 for a 704 series. I am not sure I ever shot 700 in the three years I have bowled this league.
The best thing to come from the coaching is I love this sport again. I have never had so much fun bowling as I am having lately.
So for those of you working with a coach and feeling frustrated that the improvement isn't coming as fast as you'd like, trust your coach. As my coach told me, he knew there would be days I'd hate him, (I never hated him, but there were days I didn't like him very much
) but as long as I trusted him there would be success.

Nice congrats. I am glad you where able to pull through your down time to get to a better day. Taking breaks from the sport is not a bad thing though as well. I was at the same point as you and I took about 6 months off from the sport. I was averaging aroud 172 when I left. After I came back about a year ago and really started to get back into the game. I started a league about half way through and average 184 in it. Now 2 of leagues I am bowling in I am average 197 and 201. Sometimes you have to quit and start fresh to improve. Thats my opinion anyways. Better as I said congrats and keep up the good work

Bowling like life is like a swing. Sometimes the swing goes backward and sometimes the swing goes forward. If you hang in there long enough, doing positive things soon enough the swing direction will change to the positive. Working on fundamentals and keeping a positive attitude only speeds up the process. I have learned bowling is a learned sport and just about everyone can be a good bowler. Sure, some bowlers are more adept to bowling and it seems it comes easier for them. But, with persistance, honesty and keeping your eye on what you want to accomplish you can do it in bowling. I am sure many will argue this point but in my 35+ years of bowling I have seen it time and time again.
Keep up the good work. Keep the goals small but directly in line with your ultimate goal. Be specific on these goals and relish the accomplishments along the way.

Thank you all and yes I couldn't quit, it's in the bones.
Bones, thank you for the perspective. I just need to be more patient, but it is hard when you want something so bad.
In addition to working on my physical game we worked on the mental game. As my mental game has gotten stronger, so has my physical game. It is a great feeling, I can hardly wait to bowl!
