Pin placements and topweights...
« on: November 18, 2004, 04:41:19 AM »
When ordering online, what do you all suggest for pins and topweights in order to be safe at drilling time? I was thinking that 2-4 inches for the pin would be ok and between 2-3 oz for the topweight. I'm not trying to do any fancy drilling, just need to have a verstile ball setup for drilling. Thanks.

2-4 pins are good,..I prefer at least 3 oz of top,..after drilling that will usually leave 1 oz to play with or shift depending on what I wnat the ball to do,..anything for me below 2.5 oz top weight is a no-no...but I'm old dschool,..

Shoutout33 -- For stock balls, I prefer 3 - 4" pins, 2.5 - 3.5 oz top weight.  Many of my customers prefer not to have a weight hole.  With a 3 - 4" pin, I can lay the weight block at almost any angle and still keep the cg near the grip center and the pin in the safe zone and 1"+ away from the edge of any hole.  If anything, may have to drill the finger holes deeper than normal.  --  JohnP

2-4" pins provodes the most felxibilty. And I agree with 3oz - 4oz of top because it also provide the most flexibility as well.
