Bowling with a golf glove
« on: November 17, 2010, 11:26:12 PM »
Hello everyone.  I was just wondering how many of you out there bowl with a golf glove (like PDW and Jeff Carter) and how you like it?  I just went back to wearing one starting last night as I dont use grips and my fingers were taking a beating and I just couldnt get comfortable with the Bio Skin and other finger tape.  For me it gives me a better grip all around...just need to fine tune how big I need to open my fingers though.

Just wondering guys.

Thanx.

Ebo,

just curious as to what you didnt like about the Bio-skin??  I switched from Vise tape yellow/blue and the turbo2n1 minty green stuff to the blue bio-skin..

I think this stuff is awesome, it sticks and when my hands get sweaty the tape does start to peel off n stuff.

I would think with the golf glove you'd need to really have bigger finger holes....????   idk

I just couldnt get a good feel with the bio skin.  If I'm going to wear anything on my fingers..I want it to go all the way around my fingers and I just couldnt get the bio skin to stay on my fingers.  the golf glove stays on my fingers tighter because of the velcro up by my wrist.

I just started to wear it again last night and only opened up a couple balls...but not too much.  I drill my own equipment and oval my fingers on the drill press so I just have to figure out the right drill bit and then I can replicate it pretty simple.  I like tight fingers since I dont use grips...so I'm always looking for a way to tighten up my fingers...but not to wear it hurts.  Once u get used to the golf glove...its pretty nice.

I use a golf glove to protect against caluses on the palm of my hand and on the side of my pinky.

I cut the middle and ring finger off just after the first knuckle and cut off the thumb.

I actually like the feel from the glove and have not had and performance issues.

lorin-23....having equipment with no grips does cut down on the amount of grabbing that i do.  I keep my fingers fairly sharp as well...i.e. not much bevel.  After years of using grips growing up (before I knew better) my fingers took a beating...thats why I went to no grips.  The golf glove lets me get and better grip on the ball with less effort and less pressure...plus it protects my fingers.  Plus I dont like the feel of grips anyway because I feel like I cant feel the ball.  I know it sounds weird...thats just me.

Plus I've never really been able to find the right grip size to my fingers that I like...oval that is.  They are either too tight or too big.  Drilling ovals on the press lets me cut them exactly to the shape of my fingers.

For alot of years back in the early 90's I used a golf glove..

I would cut off the ring and middle at the first knuckle.. and edit the thumb.

My reasons were, for some stupid reason i have insanly sweaty hands. and over the course of a long season back then (5 leagues) rosin would dry my hands to the point they would crack and start bleeding.

On a whim i crafted my first glove and liked the results. Glove took care of the sweat, and i got to pocket the 1.50 every couple weeks i woulda spent on a new rosin sack.

I used mine till the early 2000's till i had to cut leagues back to 1 or 2 and I kinda just stopped using them.

I use a golf glove. I cut out the thumb, but leave the fingers intact. If you're going to cut the fingers out, you might as well use a standard bowling glove, IMO.

My finger insert sizes went up from 3/4 and 23/32 to 13/16 and 25/32.
