Jeremy Sonnenfeld
« on: November 18, 2009, 02:27:35 AM »
I was sitting here thinking today that with the 900s shot here recently, that to think back to the first recognized 900 was back in 1997 I believe.  Does anyone know what has happened to Jeremy?  He seemed to fall off the face of the earth all of a sudden. Curiosity more than anything.

He was pretty active in Amateur and Team USA for a while (not sure if he still is).  Like Scott said, moved back home to SD, I believe he is co-owner of a bowling center there.  He's listed as working in the Pro Shop of this bowling alley.

He's in his early 30's now, so he probably decided it was time to "retire" having spent a big part of his 20's running around the world bowling.

Rumor has it Jeremy went front 33 a couple years ago and rang a dime in the 10th the last game for 879. I remember reading about it somewhere. So the guy can still throw the rock, make no mistake about it.

Yeah I think it was 700virgin that posted about it. He is from Sioux Falls. Last time I bowled with/against Jeremy back home he still is solid. One thing about his game is that there is nothing flashy about it. He just is smooth and repeats everything on every shot.

I see Jeremy almost every week as I bowl most Sunday afternoon at Sport Bowl in Sioux Falls.  Jeremy did shoot a 879 in December of 2007.  Really nice guy and would definitely agree that Jeremy is not flashy but he is very smooth.

Thanks for the responses, guys.  Another reason I am a fan of his is because I bleed Husker Red.  My family is from Lincoln and have been a Cornhusker Football fan sine the 70s.  I was invited by Coach Straub himself back in 1992 to come try out for the team after he saw me subbing in the very house that Jeremy shot that 900 (Sun Valley Lanes).  Glad to hear that Jeremy is still achieving success in the sport.

Both awesome sets that I probably couldn't touch with 4 games but man...that house sounds like a grind.
