I think the best part of that article is ESPN saying they have interest in showing the pba 50

This news is promising. Not a fan of the blue oil though. To the casual house bowler, it makes these difficult patterns look as if they are walled
 and anybody that has bowled on them knows otherwise. I also do not agree with
shortening the format to 1 hour.

In any case, I am happy that televised bowling
is not going away. That is always a "plus".

I wonder if they think that the PBA50 is more marketable due to the older bowlers that everyone knows.

I'm happy they will continue to show bowling on ESPN even with the shorter formats.

I would think so. Keep in mind that during the late 80s through mid-late 90s, they had the PBA, Senior and PWBA/LPBT shows running on ESPN, as all three tours were running at the same time.

So it definitely is possible.

If that is within the realm of reason then I wonder if they have plans to groom the "newer" players into more marketable and recognizeable figures in the sport of bowling. Outside of the people who follow the PBA religiously I would think that you wouldn't be able to ask 5 random people to name 3 PBA Bowlers off the top of their heads.

You could have asked that question to 5 random people back in the mid 80s to mid 90s, and they still wouldn't be able to name them off the top of their heads! And that was back when both Webers, Anthony, Roth, Durbin, Amleto, Voss, Duke, and WRW were bowling.
