has anyone shipped two balls at the same time using one box, but not the box used for shipping two bowling balls.

I may have one or two in the storage, but I may have recycled them while back.

If you use something else (other than a box designed for 2 bowling balls), you better use cardboard to fill up the empty space. When that box get tossed around by shipping companies the weight of a ball containing, the ball has a lot of power and/or momentum and will smash open the outer box, unless it is safely secured internally.

Any 18x9x9 box will work. Most copy/mailbox/shipping places have them or can order them.
The balls need to be in a regular ball box, then put them in the outer box.

Or, you can get a four ball box from your pro shop and cut it down, that works very well.

I had a ball delivered in a home made box and the entire box was taped like a burrito. I think the person went through half a roll of packaging tape lol...oops he might be on here....

I have a ton of brand boxes and shipping boxes... I'll just gorilla glue the two to make one, sushi tape the heck out of it, and hope it doesn't come back lol jk....

Just called fedex. they can package the balls for me for $11.

When i was asked what was I shipping and the weight of the items, she thought the bowling balls were 30 lbs each :D

Was it essentially triple boxed?  Bowling ball box inside single ship box wrapped in home made box?  Then it may have been me.  I've done that (once) and certainly used a fair amount of tape to do it.  I felt pretty good about it, but I would admit, it would've taken some surgery to get them out.

If it doesn't break through the manufacturer's box, it will destroy the structural integrity of it so you can't use it for much.  There's a couple of online shops that ship balls in larger boxes and the box is sometimes as strong as a wet Ramen noodle by the time it gets here from the East Coast.  :)

well, after some thought. I may just ship two boxes separately. it just saves me (us) $4-$5 bucks if I used one box. I just came back from the storage and I did recycle 4 of those two ball boxes I had. All I have are singles.

I'm giving two balls away and I offered to split the shipping cost.
