BR2006 - Update
« on: December 25, 2005, 04:58:03 AM »
Here's the latest. Thought I would try and consolidate everything down and find it in one place.  If I've missed your name, let me know.  I'll try and keep this updated as the year goes along.

Ball Reviews / Bowl 4 Fun.com gathering July 21-23

Here is a Yahoo map of where Creekside Lanes is located.

My email address if you need more info:

The hotel I suggest is Extended Stay America. It is clean and cheap!
Use the Winston Salem / Hanes Mall location.
You can find it on www.extendedstayamerica.com for a map. It just one exit from the bowling center.

The first year I went the extended stay was full.  Can't remember the place I stayed at but I think the room cost around $90 a nite.  Extended stay was around $45.  A big plus is the Extended stay listed in just down the road from the center.  About 5 minute drive.

Last year I picked up a brochure at a rest stop that had coupons for discounts at another motel just down the road from the center.  Think it ran me around $40 a nite.  I'm afflicted with the "CRS" syndrome.  Can't remember the name of it either.

Basically the extended stay is just convenient and cheaper than most other places in the area.

This will be my 4th year and I've stayed at the Extended Stay every year.  It is a nice place for the price.  Quiet, clean and comfortable.

SR,

I will be in Maine, for my birthday, or I would attend. I would love to have a copy of the picture to my e-mail account at pooler27@hotmail.com   Sorry Vivian and I cannot be there, BUT we would love to be able; I have not been home in 5 years.

I wonder what we would need to do to reserve a block of rooms at the Extended Stay for the event??  We do it all the time for company meetings -- I'll give them a call and find out....

Not a problem here unless you can get wasted on diet pepsi/coke or ice tea.

Turned in my vacation already, so I'll actually be around this time.  Hmmmm, wonder how much I could rent out an extra bedroom for?    Maybe I can use the wife as a chauffeur/designated driver.

Mike, must be the Springfield Open.  Great tournament, best layed out house I've ever been in.  Sawbones used to bowl it every year.

You better watch out, cause if she reads that, she might put you on restriction for the Gathering...

OK.....We can reserve a block of rooms at the Extended Stay Suites.

Prices:
With Queen:  $52.99/night
With 2 Twin:  $62.99/night

I believe these are their internet prices, so it may not make sense to reserve the block as you can go online and reserve the room now and get the same deal.  I think you can cancel your reservation up to a certain time on arrival day so there's not much risk of losing money should you decide you can't make it.

I booked my room last night and the Queen at the internet rate was $51.99/night.  So it was actually cheaper by $1 to book online.  And we all know Bowlers are cheap

Hmmmm...  Maybe I should make a special home brew for the event.  A normal batch makes about 2 cases.  That might be enough.  I usually just number the bottle caps to identify them, but maybe I make some real labels for once.  Late winter/early spring ahould be good weather for brewing and leave enough time for fermentation + bottling.  I could even do a root beer or cream soda for the juniors and non-drinkers.

Unfortunately SrK, you'll have to take me off the list.  For certain reasons I won't be making the trip.

I just saw this. I'm very new to the site, but I'd love to make new friends here. My wife and I could probably drive over from Tennessee. She's just learning and has a 120 average, though, so I'll have to coax her into going, because she'll feel intimidated. Heck, I'll be out of place even though I've been in a league for 15 years.
