BR2007 Dates
« on: January 12, 2007, 11:13:03 AM »
I just got off the phone with Ron Clifton (MagicCarpet).  This years gathering will be held Jul 27-28-29.  Lanes will be available on the 26th for those of you that arrive earlier.

Address:

Creekside Lanes
1450 Trademart Blvd
Winston-Salem, NC

The hotel of choice seems to be the Extended Stay.  They have the best rates and easy access to the bowling alley.

When the date gets a little closer I'll check with the ball companies and see what freebies we can get from them.

Hope to see all of you there this year.

Sweet.  I'll probably be riding up with my boy Jesse depending on the whole situation and if we can both get off work LOL.

Thanks for the TTT.

As the time draws nearer, can those from the area planning to host events (or can I help them?) collaborate on a schedule of events?  I'm addicted to bowling before all else, but there's nothing better between sets of bowling than a good game of hold 'em or some kind of outdoor BBQ event.

Just an idea...

Ron, just a heads up, my friends and I will probably be bothering you a lot, wanting help.  Getting ready to enter college and hopefully bowl collegiately, so I definitely want to be at a great spot in my game.  You won't have much to work with, but think of it as...a challenge.

Ron has your staff been warned and provided sufficient incentives to deal with us again?

How nice was the course at Tanglewood?  Our company had an outing at Bryan Park and it's really nice.  I played the Champions course (I believe the PGA plays here) for $47 last Friday.  About $10 more than what Toma said Tanglewood cost.  The Players course is a few bucks less.  What kind of scores did you guys shoot last year?  I just played my first few rounds in years, so I'm pretty bad.  I might play, but don't want to slow you down too bad.

For the $36 to play all day, Tanglewood was one of the nicest public courses I've played!!  There are 120+ bunkers, so you need your sand game and there's not too much water.  It's not too long -- a real nice test of golf for sure!  I shot a 74, but I don't usually go that low and I can't imagine I'll be anywhere near that since I haven't been able to touch a club coming off my hernia surgery....I don't remember what Toma shot -- he's got good game for a relative newbie!!  It would be nice to get a couple or 3 foursomes!!  And don't worry about what you usually shoot -- it's all about having a great time with some old and new friends!!

I just didn't want to slow everyone down excessively.  Maybe one of you guys can give me some pointers at the driving range.  $36 to play all day (with a cart I assume?) sounds like a great deal if the course is that nice.  There's a course near work (~30 minutes from Winston Salem) that's $14 to ride all day.  It's only 9 holes with two sets of tee boxes, but it's a great deal for a duffer like me.  I doubt it's as nice as Tanglewood.  I can show you where it's at if you want a second day of golf and want to save some money.  One of the other guys from work told me about another place.  If he has the time tomorrow, we're going to play there.  That will be my 4th round in 10 years.

I just looked at the Tanglewood site.  Looks pretty nice.  On the virtual tour, #13 is a 395 yard par 3???  Hopefully the tee box is elevated 50 yards and the fairway is rock hard.  The price says it's $37 for 18 with a cart.  May's special says you can play all day for the same price during the week.  Hopefully they'll do the same thing for June.

Bump.  Less than 2 months to go.

I also found a better than average course that's $16 after 2 pm.  It's about 10 miles NE of Greensboro.

My flight is booked.  I still have to reserve the car and room.  That will be on my To Do List for this weekend.

We're booked, planned, and looking forward to seeing everyone again.  Gary, (Alakazam) I think you're really going to like it.  Everyone is incredibly nice and they're a lot of fun.  Especially Glenn and Linda, Strider, and of course, our Princess.  Everybody made us feel right at home and part of the gang.  We just can't wait!
