BR2007 Dates
« on: January 12, 2007, 11:13:03 AM »
I just got off the phone with Ron Clifton (MagicCarpet).  This years gathering will be held Jul 27-28-29.  Lanes will be available on the 26th for those of you that arrive earlier.

Address:

Creekside Lanes
1450 Trademart Blvd
Winston-Salem, NC

The hotel of choice seems to be the Extended Stay.  They have the best rates and easy access to the bowling alley.

When the date gets a little closer I'll check with the ball companies and see what freebies we can get from them.

Hope to see all of you there this year.

I think we have a TOC shot in the machine already...

We can ask Ron on Tuesday.

Looking forward to playing poker, I have chips I can bring also.

While I realize it is a just for fun tournament, remember all levels of ability participate.  My recommendation is to not make all 3 of the patterns tough ones.  Just my humble opinion.

True.  Ron usually has a house pattern for one of the three.  I was mostly providing a wish list for the others.  Even though all skill levels are present, it is 100% handicap, and high (house) averages are more likely to shoot below their inflated averages once the walls are removed.  I can attest to that personally.

Those tougher patterns kill me, didn't we all see how well I did in Reno,(UGH!!).

Atleast I did better at the tables, Oh wait that was not pretty either.

You had to bring up the "R" word.  For me it is one of those 4 letter words dirty words  I would have been better off staying in Vegas ... My team and doubles partner would have been better off if I had stayed in Vegas

LOL, I totally see your point.

I was lucky to break 500 for team and double. Singles we just won't talk about.

That tourny should be a year long and they can get rid of the 7:00am squad, it should be outlawed. Nobody can gamble all night expect to bowl at 7:00am.

oh wait, I guess if you take out the gambling all night deal it might work better, if that was only the excuse I could use.

I can't use gambling as my excuse, but I did fly in from the Coaching Summit in Vegas.  I arrived at 11:40AM and bowl at 2:30.  My coach was concerned about being mentally fresh and strong with the amount of info received doing the Bronze certification and other seminars.

500 woud have been nice for ANY series there.  My 4th Nationals in Reno, 2 Womens, 1 ABC, and 1 Open, this is the first I won't be getting a check

I beg of you, PLEASE don't put out anything that remotely resembles the "R" shot!!!

OK, but I might tell Ron to put out the BTM shot.  I think I averaged about 20 below my PBA league and 30+ below my reno scores there.  The BTM made Reno look downright easy.

If we lay that BTM shot out I might have to bring out the big guns (Drew and Josh)...LOL

Me too.  I'll pay them to stay in the back and whack all the pins I'll miss with a broom.

Bump.  I think it'd be cool if we could bowl the BTM or US Open pattern as one, the TOC pattern as another, and a house shot to try and give us a bit of confidence back after bowling the other two.

Short, wide 2-to-1
Long, narrow 4-to-1
House

Everyone should be able to shine on at least one of them!

Beginning of the week bump.

I played Country Hills on Friday and shot a 93, probably my best ever.

I've talked to my friend Ken at gobowlingshow.com about possible prize donations, and he said he'd send a couple of "Bowler's Handbooks."  He's also trying to get Ron as a guest on the show.  Now let's see if he comes through.

Will anyone be bowling on that thursday?  My crew will be probably be there sometime in the afternoon, and we'll likely bowl or something.  Just curious if anyone else will be there that day.
