Changed my release tonight.....

And what an amazingly consistent night I had. I was able to hit my mark on about 95% of my shots. Carry was better and it just felt better. What I did is my usual except when releasing I came up the back of the ball more rather than around the side. It created a nice early arcing reaction and carried everything in sight. More forward roll definately helped me out.

Amen to that Rock !!  I know how you feel........the ball reads the lane much better too!! More predictable and better reaction at the pins.....IMO

I went and practiced a few games yesterday doing the same thing. My carry was alot better, the ball arc was alot smoother, and I averaged 192, not bad since mine is a 137!! I found out some little changes make a big difference.

Did you guys also notice that the ball covered more boards?? That was the first thing I noticed. I usually play straight up 12 or so. I threw it there and the ball started to move about 35' down and came in heavy on the nose. I was like "damn". So I move my feet 2 boards left to stand on 20 and targeted 10, hit my mark and when the ball hit the pocket pins flew everywhere. My teammate who carries a 200+ avg was impressed. He was like "wow", thats some carry, i said, "I know, who thought that changing your release would do so much so soon". All in all, it was a pretty good night at league. I bowled without pain in my knee for the first time in 3 weeks and I averaged 195 for the night. Not bad for a 175 bowler. Now I am gonna make that push to get back over 180.

Did I mention that we took all 4 points last night and are tied for 1st with a 30-10 record!!

Rock, yes, I think so...........I think it covers more, not a ton, but more, however, I also think it's because it's reading the lane properly that is giving that look like it's covering more boards.......does that make sense ?

Yes it does, entirely.

After last night, I think I am beginning to understand the differences in releases and how they affect a ball's reaction. I have noticed that if I try to come around the side of the ball and get more side roll the ball will get more length before it moves. Having a ball react properly on the lanes could be the biggest flaw that I have experienced lately. With this "new" release, maybe I will begin to start shooting higher scores with greater accuracy and consistency!! I will keep all posted!!
