Drill patterns
« on: June 13, 2008, 05:08:29 AM »
To all players out their, what types of drill patterns do you find yourself using predominitly? I.e. Control drillings, Drillings for length, or Early roll or anything you find yourself using.

I find myself using patterns for control more often than anything else equipment I have drilled for control right now is as follows:
Hole Pounder Pearl: Pin under Bridge
Awesome Flip: Sean Rash drilling, pin under middle finger with MB out
Awesome Finish: pin in ring finger
LevRG: Pin under Bridge
Havoc: Pin next to ring finger

I like to use weaker, length type of drills with some surface.  Nothing in my bag is stronger than 4.5" pin to PAP.  Most stuff is between 5 and 5.5"  My Cell is right at or just shy of being 6".  This gives me good control but still good energy retention for the backend.  The key for me is to rarely use polish and stick with 1000, 2000, and occasionally 4000 abralon finishes in general.

I like stronger drillings.  I need more flare in my stuff.  Most of my pins are 4.5 to PAP.  The two that I have that are longer are for lighter stuff/spare stuff.  Most are pin under too.  They become very controllable and predictable drills for me.

I have everything from 1" pin from PAP to a 6.5" pin to PAP. Including 3 Rico drills. Everything has its uses and I have learned when to use.

Everything I have is

Label leverage

Stacked leverage

315 leverage

I have tried other pin to pap distance,
but found leverage to be the best for me.

Me too. I did buy a No Mercy with an early arc drilling but seems like I like the lenth drillings around 5" to the PAP and have the option with the CG or Mass Bias where I want that. I like to have the definition in reactive balls at the breakpoint.
