Brackets
« on: December 11, 2009, 02:32:02 AM »
For those of you who either run brackets or partake in brackets on a league night, what is the typical cost and payout?  Also how much does the guy running the brackets take for each bracket?  I want to compare the typical price to what we pay without influencing the results by posting what we pay.

thanks!

$5 cut the field.
as many people as possible.
after first game field is cut in half
after 2nd game field is cut in half
payout after 3rd is top 3.
usally pays $35, $10, $5.

This is interesting.  Question - when you make the second cut and to the top three is it based on that single game or the total score for the two or three games?  --  JohnP

all based on single game, no total involved.

Brackets are a part of todays bowlers, if you think about it look at what nationals is making for running brackets they do the typical ( keep one entry out for the people running the brackets) and then for the most part they make the bowler go somewhere else to collect his/her winnings.

Perfect Brackets is the only one I know.  I think it's about $100.

Braxion is the software I use.  No problems with it.  $149 I believe.

I charge $5 and pay $25 and $10.  But I have a slight variation.  I do not pay myself the $5 per bracket.  I am entered into the bracket.  Bowl well.  Make some money.  Bowl bad.  Make nothing that night.

Where does that other $5 go?  Or do you simply take a spot in each bracket?

Personally, I'd rather have the $5.  I'll come out far ahead in the long run.

Shel .. I think he's taking a spot in each of the brackets .. feels he bowls well enough to win .. guess I would gamble on the same thing .. if you run 5 sets you get $25 flat or the possibility of wining (up to) $125 ..

If you have an average that compares with those guys that get in EVERY bracket it might be worth while!

Joe's explanation is correct.  I am entered into every bracket.  So there are 7 paying bowlers in each bracket and me who got in free.

If there are 10 brackets and I win 5, I make $125 that week. According to a spreadsheet I keep, I am well ahead of the $5 per bracket pace.  And some weeks, I make nothing.
