2 handed question

So when I bowl 2 handed I use my regular equipment and I found that my stuff hooks a ton.  

Today I used a friend's ball that was drilled for no thumb.  WOW what a difference.  My control went up a ton.  The ball wasn't over hooking.  

On here I read ball reaction is 80% coverstock.   The balls I'd normally use include a scout, pluto and black label elite.     The ball I used this morning was Storm Dimension.    

Is it coverstock or the drill of the ball that increased my control of the reaction.

maybe it was just rolling out? lol, the dimension is more aggressive than all other mentioned balls... i would have to think that it is rolling out...

I realize the dimension is more aggressive which is what surprised me so much.  It was polished to 1000.   I was throwing it 16mph (at the pins) down 12 out to 10 and it would come up harder than any of my other stuff.   If I threw it wide a little I would leave the 2 8 10 (left it twice during my 260 game)    

I don't believe it was rolling out.  The ball was driving harder than anything I've ever thrown.   Yet hooking less although it's more aggressive.

It's probably bleeding energy properly and not trying to store it and go sideways on the back.

I have a Black Ice and a Too Hot that hooks plenty for me to throw all of the time on normal conditions.  The problem is they are a bit touchy and uncontrollable on the back so I throw stuff with stronger cores so they bleed more energy in the midlane.

This most likely explains the increase in control.

One other thing to keep in mind...balls aren't drilled for "two hand" drillings.  They are drilled based on your PAP, which is simply measured from grip center.

Layout plays a big part in it also.  In regards to Russells initial post, I too have a Black Ice but mine is drilled with the pin 2 inches from PAP and cg center of grip.  I took mine to 4000 abralon and it is by far and away the smoothest rolling ball I have ever thrown.  The only reason I did this is because Russell himself drilled me a Red Pulse with a similar layout years ago and that ball was Jesus when playing up the boards.  Should have kept it and kicking myself for not keeping it.  So in your case, it could be a combination of bleeding energy faster and the layout on the ball that makes the 2D more controllable.

A stronger ball that creates more friction earlier will use up some of its stored energy early, and therefore react less violently downlane.  A weaker ball that skids in oil more will retain more energy for when it encounters downlane, resulting in a more violent motion off the breakpoint.  Using a stronger ball or a sanded surface can help the ball read the lanes sooner and therefore "bleed energy" before it gets to the back of the pattern, which helps make it more controllable.

The reason those balls work for you better is because they are most likely closer to your 2 handed PAP. Your 2 handed PAP and 1 handed PAP will be totally different, usually by a good amount, this will affect ball reaction. If you want to get better ball reaction 2 handed, I would recommend getting balls drilled for your 2 handed PAP, they will roll and react better for you. I bowl 2 handed and for me, the smoother arcing drills roll a ton better, and are a lot more predictable. The Dimension is a very smooth ball and has a benchmark reaction, I love balls like this, Gamebreaker and Pinslasher have been the same reaction shape for me.
