Are these any good
« on: May 30, 2004, 10:32:24 PM »
I am looking into possibly getting a wrist device to help my wrist stay firm through my release. In watching a video of myself yesterday, my coach noted that my wrist breaks during my release. He says I need to keep it firm and come through the shot that way. I was looking at the Columbia F10X ProActive Wrist Device. Is this thing any good?? Maybe its the wrong thing to look for. Is this the device I need or do I need something else?? I am only really going to use it temporarily until my wrist doesnt break any more. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks guys. Although, I am not really looking at a long version of a brace. Just a wrap around for the wrist and i happened to see these. I do have a Powerball Gyroscope which I will use more regularly. But as for the brace, I only wanted it as a temporary support until I got the muscle memory in tact.

I had this problem after moving up in weight, and it took me about 2 weeks of bowling 3 or 4 times a week to get the strength to be able to keep it locked through my release.

The F10X is not a traditional wrist brace; it doesn't have any metal supports.  It's supposed to increase your wrist strength by up to 10%.

If you require that your wrist be prevented from bending backward, I would look elsewhere.  If you don't want one of the Mongoose-type supports, but something more like a traditional bowling glove, I can recommend the Ebonite Positioner and the Master Wristmaster II Excel.

The Wristmaster II Excel has removable metal braces in both the palm and wrist.  I always remove the palm support, as I don't like the way it feels, and the way it changes the position of the ball in my hand.

Hope this helps!
