how long will a resurfaced ball last until it dies out again?

Impossible to say.

It depends on the ball and why you're resurfacing it. Full resurfacing removes a lot of coverstock thickness. I'd guess 3 to 4 are the max for a FULL resurface. If you can successfully extract all the oil it absorbs, it can theoretically keep going for a long time.

There is no set formula, that I am aware of.

bowling on newer synthetic lanes a majority of time will add life to your ball. the lane surface is extremely hard and smooth and the oil acts as a buffer between the ball and the lane surface. if you bowl on guardian, laneshield, or wood lanes your equipment will need resurfacing much more often. my ultra zone is proof of this. it was resurfaced yesterday on a haus machine with 180 grit abralon pads and there is still plenty of wear and tear visible. at least the rejuvenator was able to extract all of the oil that the ball had absorbed.
