Break Point
« on: March 15, 2005, 03:37:01 AM »
i am having problems reaching the same break point,  I hit my mark at the arrows at least 80% of the time but i can hit the correct break point down the lane.  for example i aim at 20 at the arrows and want to send to ball to the 5 board, but 1 out of 5 those shoots actually go the 5 board, some are at the 7 and some are at the 3 let me know what i possibly can do to fix this problem, any tech tips.

Draw a straight line from the dots (point A) to the arrows (point B) to the breakpoint (point C).  Hit your mark from the dots to the arrows, and the ball will likely reach the breakpoint.  This is what I do, not sure if it'll work for you, but often does for me!

bigfish -- Could be speed variation, moving the breakpoint forward or back.  But more likely, either your approach isn't consistent and/or your swing isn't parallel to your approach and target line.  For a while, check your foot position after throwing each shot.  Your foot should be in the same spot each time, and should be pointed parallel to your target line.  --  JohnP

It require skill to repeat. Practice, practice, practice is what it takes to build skill. Look at the three best bowlers, DW, WRW and EA... all three could repeat and are arguably the best of all time. All three share unique styles that you would no teach. But they honed there ability with one standard in mind, hit two points as close as possible while maximizing there ability to roll/hook the ball. Too much roll/hook comes at the cost of a reduction of accuracy at both targets.
