The Approach
« on: January 17, 2004, 07:09:26 PM »
I noticed I have a short approach. Only about 3-4 feet long(I take 5 tiny steps). What are the pros/cons of a short approach, and a long approach?

There aren't any that I know of. Always go with what you prefer.

I agree... If it's comfortable and you don't have any timing issues, I'd leave it alone and not worry about it.

I too have a fairly short approach... I changed from a long approach in September because the short approach kept my motion more condensed... I lost a little speed, but only a half a mph or so, which you just adjust too...

So in my dealings a short condensed approach will be slightly more accurate and easier to maintain form through, while a longer approach will mean slightly more speed and revs...

Even then, the difference is pretty much negligible as I have seen excellent bowlers with drastically different approaches...
