what can i use inside the hot water to clean a bowling ball? i used greased lighting

Dawn is one of the best grease/oil cutters intended for use in hot tap water.
 
Save Greased Lightning for the garage.

I don't cover the holes. I just make sure everything's dry (usually a couple of days) before I use the ball again.

really hot water will loosen most glues. I suppose you could jam something in the holes to prevent the water from  getting into the filler and the cores. Blue Tack might work.
(Blue Tack)  [Uses] or a wine cork.
I'd be inclined to just let it air out, holes facing up for a few days to allow the water to evaporate.
