Look at CTDbowling.com.  Also, check out their Youtube channel where he does demonstrations on this very thing.  I have personally used CTD products and they are very good.

The sad truth is that modern bowling balls have relatively short lives (some as short as 100 games) and the life-extending methods are patches, at best.

My local proshop has a sonic oil remover that works very well.

For home use, I have used a dishwasher with the heated dry feature turned off. This option takes a day or so before you can use the ball as it need to dry out. It also might not be a popular option with your wife, just saying...

The aforementioned CTD products work somewhat, I use Life After Death and it has some effect, but not huge.

Restoring a bowling ball to its "original form" involves a combination of cleaning, resurfacing, and oil extraction. When a bowling ball is used repeatedly, it absorbs oil from the lanes, dirt, and other contaminants, which can affect its performance and appearance. A standard cleaning approach like dish soap and water, or even specific bowling ball cleaners like Pyramid Tech, may not be enough to completely restore the ball to its original condition, especially if the ball has absorbed a lot of oil over time or has surface damage :'(
