I was wondering if anybody threw Brooklyn on purpose under certain lane conditions? I've never seen this subject brought up but I was wondering how to attack the rack on the Brooklyn side?

So many questions, so little time but I'm having fun.

I wouldn't recommend it. Even hitting the pocket on the correct side of the lane carry can be questionable, but it becomes even more unpredictable when you throw brooklyn. You just never know what is gonna be staring at you.
I wouldn't even know how to attack a pattern by throwing at the brooklyn side...never done it.

Why would you want to?
If you can throw Brooklyn consistently then you should be able to throw in the pocket consistently.
Unless it the shot is high Brooklyn carry is suspect particularly because there is no way for the ball to drive out the 5 pin. You can leave 5 - 10's easily and if you miss the head pin left you leave ugly spares to pick up.

I've done it on totally fried condtions, even my plastic overreacted and it was very tough to get to the pocket, and splits were everywhere. I decided to go brokelyn in hopes of reducing the splits leaving makeable shots. I actually put together six in a row on the brokelyn side and put up a 230+ game. I wouldn't recommend it, but it was much easier to go brokelyn than to hit the 1-3.

I had an old high school teacher who I bowled with after I graduated that purposefully did that if he wasn't carrying the 1-2 pocket. I worked well for him.

People with lighter ball weight and slower speed, Ive seen attempt to hit jersey. My mom throws 11 lbs with slow ball speed. If she hits the pocket she tends to leave the 5-8---if she hits jersey her carry tends to be better. Ive seen another older woman in this area who does the same thing.
Ive thrown jersey 2 times on purpose before. Once when I was in junior leagues---9 strike 225 with all 9 strikes jersey---my 3 non strikes were shots I tried not to pull.
My best was bowling on a shorter pro pattern about 5 years ago. I had 105 after 7 frames in the last game of a singles league. I threw the 8th frame jersey did the same thing in the 9th. I decided in the 10th in a close match to not try to hit the pocket. I didnt change a thing and struck out. I ended up winning the Peterson point league by less than a point because of the final game win. Dont change a thing when on a string.......

Ive never seen this done purposely, but i know a older gentleman who has very slow ball speed, and the lanes were fried one day and he couldn't get enough speed to hit the 1-3 so he decided not to bother and went for the 1-2.
Side Note: I did see someone shoot 300 this year with a Brooklyn strike on his 11th and 12th...pretty funny

My dad once threw the front 9 on all Brooklyn hits. He didn't intend to do that though! He finally threw one in the pocket on the 10th shot, and left a ringing 10 pin.

I've never tried, but I think it would be fun just to get under the skin of some of the self-righteous hacks!

Back many years ago, I was bowling in a tournament and just couldn't seem to find anything all day long. Over/under, corner pins, splits, you name it. After 6 games, I was pretty much out of it (I figured), but had two games remaining. On a whim, I grabbed my plastic spare ball and moved to the far left side of the approach (being a righty) and fired from the left corner, directly at the head pin. By this time, the lanes had drier up enough that I was able to get a couple boards movement out of my spare ball, resulting in the ball hitting high flush (on accurate shots) in the "other" pocket. I went from nothing to absolutely carrying the world... think I ended up going +110 or something for the last two games and made the final spot to cash by a few sticks. I never have tried it since then (out side of practice sessions with my spare ball), but believe me, I've been lost several times like that!

A guy on my mens league team will throw to the brooklyn side when he is having trouble carrying the corners. He throws a more direct line and has some success doing this.
