Brunswick Finalizes Sale of Bowling Division
« on: May 26, 2015, 12:15:00 PM »
Brunswick Corp. announced today, May 26, that it completed the sale of its bowling products business to BlueArc Capital Management LLC, a private investment firm based in Atlanta.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“We are pleased that the buyer is a long-term investor and that the Brunswick name and all that it stands for will carry on and continue to set the standard in the bowling industry,” Brunswick chairman and CEO Dustan E. McCoy said in a statement. In 2014, Brunswick completed the sale of its retail bowling centers to Bowlmor AMF and now reports the historical results of both the bowling retail and products businesses as discontinued operations. Brunswick anticipates net proceeds from both of these sales actions, which reflect current estimates of taxes and liabilities yet to be paid, to be in the range of $270 million to $290 million that was provided in the company’s original projections. Brunswick’s capital strategy prioritizes growth investments and acquisitions in the marine and fitness segments, maintaining a strong balance sheet and returning cash to shareholders, McCoy reiterated.

It is all relative to what you want it to be. If bowling balls is where someone draws the line on buying made in the USA only, so be it.

Most will argue that doesn't make something else less of a product because it is made in another country. Most of the time people seek out items specifically made else where for quality reasons. No one here is kidding themselves thinking this American work force is a fraction of what it was many years ago. The country is no longer that as well. Still a great place all things considered.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

I can name one, Jeff Richgels. He often mentions a Storm ball that he doesn't match up with. He doesn't say the ball is bad, but he is straight up when it doesn't work for his style.

Jeff Richgels thinks blue oil is a great idea. There goes his credibility.
Balls: Motiv Forza GT, Motiv Primal Rage Remix, Motiv Ascent Pearl and Motiv (On The Ball) spare ball.. All made in the USA.

There was a time I was incredibly proud to be associated with Brunswick as I was Storm 20 yrs ago...times change as do appearances....feelings and opinions...unlike the company I have not changed (:

I see you're still trolling other posters and trying to act like a big shot.  ::)

How is it again that you've been banned countless times yet still are allowed back to troll others?

The comments about the equipment aren't personal, are they?  And the names were to provide reference to where the balls are made. I can use "Nigel, Thurman, and Elizabeth" and call them British, but they didn't move to England. The move is only justified by those who use the equipment.

You don't know the facts of the move.  It has been discussed many times by insiders at Big B (Rico and Nick), people like myself who live in MI and were accutely aware of the problems.  Get over it.  Don't use Brunswick if you don't want to.  Nobody needs another tired trite speed about buying American from some yahoo who is typing on a computer made in China, talks on a cell phone made in China, wears clothes made in Haiti or Vietnam (wear Levi's?  OOPS, no longer made here in the states), drives a car with content made elsewhere or assembled elsewhere, eats vegetables grown and shipped from Mexico or if U.S. produced harvested with migrant workers from, GASP, Mexico.  Get my drift?

All I know is, Motiv is making one hell of a name for itself while being located in Muskegon. It's amazing how 1 company can, and the other couldn't.

Maybe because Motiv makes significantly better balls? Just a wild guess.
