advice regarding kicking a player off the team
« on: March 11, 2009, 08:22:03 AM »
I need some advice regarding as the title says kicking someone off the team. I have a team mate that hasn't been there in almost three weeks, with no contact. Before that he was out for two weeks before he showed up again.... How long should I wait until we try and find a replacement? I have contacted the number he gave me the last time he was there and it was his mother's house, or someone I could only guess was his mother.....

So yeah any advice would be appreciated....

Thanks,
Tg

i think most leagues after a certain point in the season require a meeting and approval from all the Captains to replace a team member.  otherwise its up to the team captain

suggestion,
if by replacing him will mean u have one more slot for another player who can help your team,do not hesitate.

i have had similar experiences before,so its kinda like hard to make the decision, but putting the performance of the team as a bigger picture, replacement immediately is a must

On my Wednesday night leauge if you miss 3 consecutive weeks without notifying anyone you are automatically removed from the team and leauge. You are still responsible to pay up the weeks missed. Ive seen it happen every year where someone just stops bowling then at the end of the year the team is short on their end of year pay out then the team gets upset about it.

Talk with your leauge president and look at the leauges by laws. That should be addressed in that. If hes already on the 3rd week, hes pretty much a goner from that leauge.

Under USBC rules, the captain can replace a bowler at any time for cause.
For example no call/no show.  You don't need anyone's permission.  Just
tell him he is off the team.

Could you go with a 5th member (or 6th if it applies) and then you can have a person and let the other person know he's still a member of the team but the new bowler is the primary since he was a no show no call to many weeks?

When the person does show, do they keep the league envelope current? You may look at having a sub, but give the person a chance to pay the weeks missed in order to collect a share at the end.

Thanks to all that replied. We finally heard back from the team mate later on Wednesday night, left a message for us at the bowl... Says would be out for another 4 weeks. So we picked up the sub that bowled for me Wednesday night... should be interesting.

I joined a team a couple of years ago that had a bowler go AWOL several times. The night I joined, he had been out two weeks at that point and owed for six or seven weeks total (teammates had been paying for him to avoid the forfeit).

So a couple of months later, I'm walking back from throwing my first shot of the night, and look up and there's that guy talking to one of my teammates, and getting hot about something. He storms out and my teammate later tells me the guy came that night, with his stuff but still without any money, and demanded to bowl.

Some people just don't get it, ever, no matter what the subject.
