what percentage would you say ....

is the improvement of today's bowling balls?  I mean, I don't exactly know the "turnaround" concerning balls, but it seems when you read the characteristics of new balls, there's a 'slight' (not will all balls) difference between it and other balls in its class.  I often read how someone has altered the cover of a ball to handle/deal with lane condition but there's equipment already out there to do such.

Ideally we do things to the ball to fit our game, however what is the major factor in your decision to purchase a new ball (other than the one you have no longer hooks - which I believe it still does however you're comparing it to new balls, etc.)

Edited:  Also, do you purhase a new ball to overcome a flaw in your game?
