Brunswick Reassurance
« on: January 16, 2005, 03:30:22 AM »
Dear Reader,

In past, I've seen posts about Brunswick balls having the property of being able to be put into ovens and renew. First of all, is that just balls without finger plugs? If I have finger plugs would it melt? What temperature and steps should I take? If the ball does crack or any damage occur, would Brunswick give me a new ball? I need EXPERTS to answer my questions and give me sites where Brunswick says they RECOMMEND the bake-in-the-oven method. Thanks you very much!!!

Patrick

No, they won't replace it if you try it yourself.  They have special machines, like the rejuvanator, that are made specifically for this.  See if you can find a pro shop that has one.  Otherwise, make sure you don't do anything wrong or else you'll have a useless lump.

Well I'm no expert for sure, BUT I can say that I've just recently baked my Power Groove/particle with great results....

Set oven to 150* for 1/2 hr.. wiped it down with simple green and then back into the oven again... I repeated this 3 times till I seen dry spots in the last baking.. each time out of oven I cleaned it down with 50-50 simple green and water... I rolled it a few times at practice with some good results..
Wasn't able to use it in leagues yet, just not enough oil YET..
Not sure about any warranty though..  Hope this helps you some...

Red, what do you mean "dry spots"?

If you decide to back it, just bake until no more oil comes out of the ball.

In the last time in the oven I was seeing that there was not as much oil coming out of the ball... hence DRY SPOTS..

AH, okay.  I wasn't sure if you meant actually little spots appearing on the ball.

Ahh.. I did forget to mention that it did not affect my grips or thumb slug at all...

Um.. 1/2 hr intervals is what I've been instructed to do.. until you see that the oil is no longer coming out of the ball...  and as for using simple green.. I've read in some post that it leaves a white film on the ball after using it..  I used it with 50-50  w/water and I didn't see any white film on the ball.. It's a black ball, Im sure I would of noticed it for sure..

Like he would know anything about reviving balls, he gets rid of them and gets new ones after they have 5 games on them!
