Ok.. I know this topic has come up before, but last night brought it back to light for me.. What's everyone's most recent brain fart? Mine, for example, was last night.. 290 (2-pin in the first, spare, sheet), 198, 256, 239, for a 983 4 game set. Wiffed a 10 pin, and threw a big 4 split in that 2nd game and really never could seem to get it going.. All of the sudden, game 3, I was able to turn it back on..

Tonight. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
264 (front 4, 4-6-10) next 6, 7 pin.
257 77 in the fourth (clean), back 8.
last game - front 4, 3-6-9-10, X, 4 pin miss, X, adjust for the last 2 frames on that lane, sail the ball past the head pin, spare. 10th frame, SOLID 7-9 (I'm RIGHT handed - so it was high flush...) 201
722 series - nothing to sneeze at, but geez!!!

The best part. There were a total of 4 ladies bowling the scratch league tonight. I was kicking butt the first two games. We have big money riding between the ladies at a quarter each for game and series...

My opponent, who happened to be one of the other ladies, shot 299 against me the last game.  AAARRRGGGHHH. If that wasn't bad enough - she didn't get the quarters!!! Another lady in the league shot 300 to take it from her. My measly 201 didn't count for diddly!!!

I don't really have brain farts, I have bad carry and release problems.  There isn't any room for brain farts!  Except maybe trying to use a ball that I shouldn't just because I like the reaction even if the lanes aren't quite tailored to it.  I LOVE the reaction of my Cherry Bomb, but it's at its best when I move deep and crank it up.  I've been having wrist problems recently, and added with my release hang ups, my Scream/R that rolls a little more evenly and can sometimes leave weak 10's (which I absolutely HATE, but mostly it's my fault, don't you love knowing exactly what the ball is going to do off your hand?), but it gets me to the pocket more, not to mention I can throw it more comfortably.

Sport league back in january.  

1st game - 115 brain in comatose state all adjustments seemed to yield splits, ten pins should have just hit the reset button and saved the embarrassment.  

2nd game - 186  found the pocket and my spare game, it was right there all the time.  

3rd game - 298 couldn't miss and totally focused.  

Great way to shoot a 599.

might have been the beer that helped it out though...*laugh*....though swishin 7-10's to start and end the game also helped a bit....

Ok.. gonna expand this a bit.. The night immediately after shooting that 980 series, I go into sweepers for one of my 2 scratch leagues and shoot no higher than a 206 for a 758 series for 4 games.. Didn't help that my middle finger busted wide open in the middle of game 1, but still.. owie.. Bad night to become instantly stupid.

Expanding to new heights....lol...

In a tournament....went front 11.........threw the last ball and was like....wow...that doesn't look right.....

Was exactly 1 Dot left of where I had been the first 11 shots....whiff the head pin on the right.......296........oh yeah!!!!!!.....

Was called Scarecrow after that for a bit.........;-)

I think that it can apply to both things.. Throwing a completely stupid game after a really good one, in some cases, can be an adjustment issue, and in others is just all of the sudden starting to throw the ball bad for one game which was what my start of the topic was about..

I've had a few lately:

Sending my brain out for a beer in game 2: 234-191-232 = 657

Missing once inside 3 boards:  Front 5, baby split/9-out, sheet - 266

Needing a spare + short count in the 10th frame of game 3 for a 700 and leaving a swishing 7-10.

Needing a double in the 10th of game 2 to be +100 thru 2 for your 800.  Not being upset at posting X9/ because, hey, what are the chances you'll shoot 298 or better in game 3?  Then shooting a 299. 269, 228, 299 = 796

Man, I love this game!

Lol, I remember a couple instances where my friends did it.  And these are guys that obsess about bowling 600's, we're talking 170 average bowlers who have less than a clue about what they're doing, and just are lucky they bowl in a house with the wall.  The best one was when one of them had a chance for a 700.  He got to his last ball, and he only needed 6 pins for 700.  He got 4.  Or then my other friend, he had the front 7, 9/ 9/ in 8th and 9th, then gets up in the tenth and throws not one, but TWO gutters.  Me and the rest of my friends were dying, it was so hilarious!
