BTM Ball of the Year 2010 - Thoughts?
« on: April 29, 2010, 01:06:49 AM »
High Performance Particle Solid - 900 Global Bounty Hunter

High Performance Reactive Solid - Brunswick Siege

High Performance Reactive Pearl - Brunswick C-System 2.5

High Performance Hybrid - Storm Virtual Energy

Mid Price Particle Solid - Lane Master Dynamic Power

Mid Price Reactive Solid - Brunswick Diamondback

Mid Price Reactive Pearl - Brunswick Python

Mid Price Reactive Hybrid - Roto Grip Mars

Mid Price Urethane - Storm Natural

Entry Level - Hammer Razyr

Most Versatile - Brunswick C-System 2.5

Agree ?  Disagree?

I had and did not like Bounty Hunter.

Hammer Hot Sauce Pearl finished second in High Performance Reactive Pearl to the C-System 2.5 and that was a great ball (I did not toss C-System).

I think if Break Out was on vote list it would of done well, it is a great rolling solid.

Those are the only two I can comment - Nod

I think the choices are pretty good

No clue how the Freeze didnt win entry level award. The razor is nothing but a reactive cover with a pancake.

Hype should of beat out the Natural.

Had a bounty hunter shot 299 with it. So i think its well deserving

I routinely used a Brunswick C-System 2.5 this year and can attest to how great this ball worked for me. I used my Brunswick Siege far less often due to a lack of heavily oiled lanes but it worked great when the lane condition called for it.

Break Out probably didn't even get Honorable Mention when it was released.

Fast forward 30 months, WRW earns player of the year using the Break Out on several telecasts, it's got the top two scratch AE scores in Reno, and it's a favorite.

The Original Break just might be the last all-black ball you'll see from San Antonio anytime soon...lol!

Disagre with the seige, I thought the full swing was a better ball.  Seige was good don''t get me wrong, I just feel like the fs was overall more versatile

And completely disagree with the razor, the freeze wins that category by a mile

Freeze for sure, best ball for the $$ period
Full Swing over the Seige
Mission over the C-system
Reign for mid priced pearl
Jacked for mid priced solid

This is just from what I have seen.  There is VERY little Brunswick drilled anymore in my area.  Storm, Ebo, Columbia, Hammer.  A few 2.5's but maybe 3-5 at most and I have yet to see a 3.5.

My votes would be the following:

Full Swing
Mission
Virtual Energy
C-System 2.5
Reign
Onyx Vibe
Freeze

Yeah, the Freeze has to be the ball of the year. Nevermind the amount of ball you get for such an incredible value, but think of what that one ball has forced the other manufacturers to do. Thanks to the Freeze we're getting similiar offerings from Brunswick and Storm.

I love my Freeze, and thanks to that ball I can't wait to get my Tropical Heat Hybrid.

Other than that if you count balls you can still purchase and not discontinued, I haven't seen anything that has knocked the Hy-Road off its perch yet.

I have to disagree (strongly) with these four.

My choices-

Mission

Reign of Fire

Reign

And the one I disagree with most vehemently is most versatile. IMHO no ball compared, or was even close, to the Black Onyx Vibe for versatility. I never leave home without this one and have a couple in reserve.

The Reign should be in there somewhere, best pearl I've ever thrown.

i too love my freeze ... thinking of getting another...

as far as the storm offering (heat) i would be tempted but i think my arsenal is set and good the way it is but might buy the hybrid for my brothers X-mas present.... (he has a span close enough for me to throw so who knows afrter that)

Richie already declared the Curve BOY to follow up the Dynamo..

Which BTW, are both very fine ball lines. At the very least, on par with their competition. Forgetting Lane#1, I don't see a single Columbia ball mentioned. The Swing series is about as good as it gets. Overall, they're making some of the best equipment made by the majors.

Magazine popularity contests are bogus at best.
