Title: BTM Delivery
Post by: TheIronMan on May 03, 2006, 04:01:41 AM
We are having problems again this month with bulk mail centers. To aid our research, can you post when you got your April BTM? If not sure of the exact date, a 3 day range would be helpful. We understand that no one on the East coast has gotten theirs yet. If you live on the East Coast and have received your April issue, please post here and let us know.

Jim,

I have not received my April issue yet but just to let you know, I received my March issue on April 11th.  I am on the east coast (NJ) and generally get my issue around the last day of the month.  The last couple of months I have gotten it during the first week of the next month.  I will post when I get my April issue.

ps.  What I notice is that the date of delivery can vary by up to a week depending on what part of NJ you live in.  Some of my friends get theirs sometimes a week before I do.

I am in South Dakota and haven't received my April copy.  Normally receive them by 25th of the month.  I've been wondering what was happening.  Not the East Coast, are there problems in the mid-west/northern states as well?

Jim,

I live in Wisconsin and still have not received my April issue yet.  I got my March issue around the 10-15th of April.  My delivery has been messed up for months.  My November issue came near the end of January.  My December issue arrived around Christmas.  (This (around the 25th) has been the "norm" for my delivery for the last seven or eight years.)  My January issue got here in mid-February and my February issue arrived the first week of April.  I assumed the November and February issues were really messed up because they were sent in a plastic sealed package with info about my suscription expiring in February.

When I ordered my subscription, I ordered Dec-Feb back issues and have not got them yet. I have got March but not April yet. With all due respect, if I knew it was going to be this much hassle, I wouldnt have subscribed! sOUNDS LIKE YOU GUYS NEED TO CRACK SOME SKULLS WITH usps before your customers start doing that to you. After all, you are USPS's customer!

BTW, I live in VA.

We've been trying to do just that, but getting any kind of action from them is like pulling teeth. I'm a little tired myself of hearing about bulk mail centers not having enough employees.

Anyway, as far as unreceived issues, please call the office and leave a message w/name, address, and phone and also let us know if you receive yours before next Tuesday. We will mail out directly next Tuesday to those who haven't yet received theirs.

If you ordered back issues, you should have them by now. Please call Rhonda at the office (800-282-7043) and leave a specific message, if she's not there about your problem.

Today, Monday, 5/8/06, I called to report non-receipt of April's issue. The woman who replied said they were already out of April's issue, more were expected on Wednesday, 5/10. She'd ship me out an April issue then.

I think lack of personnel in the LA distribution center is a piss-poor reason for the Post Office not doing what they were paid and had agreed, LEGALLY, to do. It seems that this is yet another reason why the US POst Office, which is now supposed to earn its own way in the world, as a profit making corporation, will soon go the way of AT&T. They also did not know how to make a profit, with a multi-BILLION dollar base.

I still have not recived mine yet! Not enough employees at the mail facility?? I work for a USPS contractor and honestly, they (USPS) have NO trouble hiring folks! Great pay, great benefits, easy as hell job (easiest job I HAVE EVER had)! Seriously, are they really short handed, do they just not want to hire more folks, or is it actually BTM's fault and are they blaming it on USPS?

Well, it looks like some folks in the East are starting to get their BTMs. Please make sure that we have you on record as a "no-get", so that we can send a replacement, if you still haven't received it. Call the office at 800-282-7043 and leave your name, address and a way to contact you. We are trying very hard to overcome this problem. Looks like we'll be changing printers and mailing houses to somewhere in the midwest. Also, June and July will be combined into one issue. This will make it possible to print and ship the magazine before and at the start of the month, instead of during and at the end of the month (or into the next month). We have been wanting to do this for some time, to be more consistent with the rest of the printing industry. Everyone will have 1 month added on to their subscription, so no one will get fewer issues than they paid for.

Hey Mr. Jim King,

not trying to be rude, but you gues are running a business here, figure out how to get things out on time. I havent recieved an issue on time for 8 months. Whats the deal with that. Every time i call you guys i get the same response "The problem is with the post office on your end" I know this is a load of garbage. I love your magazine, and love the ball reviews in them, but if this keeps up im going to have to cancel my subscription and switch to bowlers journal or something.

I have stated on this forum several times that our printer gets the magazine out on the 15th or 16th of every month. It is supposed to get to your house by the end of the month. If it doesn't, the Post Office screwed up somewhere. Period! If you haven't gotten yours on time for that many months in a row, I hope you have complained at least as vociferously to them as you have on this forum. We are trying very hard to fix this problem, but working with the Post Office is a slow, tedious process. It will be much harder to fix without feedback to them from you, our subscribers. At any point, if you don't think you are getting your money's worth with BTM, send us your subscription name and address and we will gladly refund the remainder of your subscription cost. What you do with the money is your decision, even if you spend it on the BJ.

Ironman, with all due respect the customer should not have to fight whatever battles you folks at BTM need to be fighting yourselves. If it is infact USPS, its not the customers problem, if its the printers its not the customers problem either. I paid my money for the subscription so I have done my part. Now its up to you folks to give the paying customer their moneys worth in a timely manner.

BTW, I get any other subscriptions and mail here in a timely manner from many different points in the country. Thats why I am basically saying its BTM's baby to deal with, not your customers baby to deal with. Another question, I take it the good folks at BTM get their paycheck from the customer correct? Afterall, if there were no customers you folks wouldnt have that job correct? I just got the jist that in your last post it seems like that may have been forgotten. I understand your frustration but, the sooner the customer is happy, you folks will be happy also.

Good day to you.

Yes, it is our problem. I am not, by any means, passing the buck. We have compained and harangued our printer and believe me, they have passed it on the post office, and we have spent hours at a time on the phone with the USPS, but consumer feedback is ten times more effective than if it comes from us. The complaint form at the USPS website is certainly a good start, though when we have used it ourselves, we haven't gotten timely responses. The mainline magazines aren't having any delivery problems. Several of other "niche" magazines like us, are having problems, especially if printed on the West Coast. Raising subscription rates to accomodate first class postage would be one answer, but we don't want to ever have to do that. Hopefully, moving our printer to the Midwest will help. We'll see.

We'll see.

If the problem is infact USPS and there is NO other problems at all, I would glady pay more for first class mail service. This is just me though and I cant speak for anyone else. If its an option let me know.

I completely agree.... I am honestly considering cancelling my subscription....I subscribed in January and I have 2 issues to show for it... That to me is just unacceptable in any business... I'm going to take my chances with bowlers Journal, it can't be any worse...

Left a message of no-get. Mr. King hope the move goes well and you can clear this up soon. I guess I'm in the minority as I will wait a little extra time to get a more informative mag instead of 75%  advertisements. Good luck, just pop a tums.

Sir Ashley, please call the office w/contact info and let them know you want your money back. We will gladly refund it. You can get first class mailings now, if you want, by paying extra. Tell the office that you wish to do this and they will charge your cc the extra postage and switch you over. You will get a first class issue mailed directly from the office each month. I can't remember exactly how much extra it is...maybe $15 or so.

I'm still waiting on mine here in PA, but for some reason an issue of BJ showed up in my mailbox....  I browsed through it..besides a page containg three reviews, it reminded me of readers digest...  The aritcles seemed to be more geared towards the "story" type, and very little technical.  I have to say that BTM is leaps and bounds ahead of the others with useful bowling information.  I don't care if I have to wait two months to recieve a copy, its the best technical bowling publication available.

We sent a notification of our missing issue through the website last weekend.  It said after we hit "submit" that it would be answered in 3 days. Still nothing.  I guess I'll spend some time Monday on the phone. Kind of pointless to have a "contact us" button that fakes it.

And like sheep, we drink the Kool-Aide as requested and don't whine. What is up with this? They have my $55 for 2 year subscription and cannot arrange for their magazine to be delivered until 6 weeks after the posted published date? Martha Stewart's rag delivers quicker than that from her jail cell. Comments by BTM? Fat chance of a good/ACCEPTABLE explanation. They may have my last renewal.

Slushystx, I think I've my comments about this problem have been forthcoming quite regularly. If you'll look, I started this thread in the first place. Why wait to not renew? Please email me your address and name at btmjk@aol.com and I'll arrange for an immediate refund of your remaining subscription. At BTM, we think our rate of satisfied customers ranks right up there with any magazine and will do everything we can to keep it there. If you aren't happy, we'll give you your money back on remaining issues. To all the others who offered constuctive criticism, and especially those who registered complaints with their local post office or on the USPS website, thank you! It looks like the USPS has finally gotten most delivered. We're still working hard on the others and hope to have this problem solved in coming months.

5-15-06 received the april issue today. Wisconsin.

Can you please tell me exactly what date this was mailed out by BTM?
Thanks for any information as to exactly when this BTM was mailed out from the printer to the bulk mailer? And,when does it go from the bulk mailer to the USPS for delivery?
I guess I was looking for how the process works from BTM point of view with specifics as to the dates for the April issue and specifically how long the USPS had the magazine and was holding it.  I think the USPS is much maligned but any info you can shed on the specific dates and the process of mailing would be greatly appreciated.
Does the slow delivery affect subscriptions or renewals?

Iron,
Although I am still waiting for my April issue (suburban Chicago), you may count me in the number of satisfied customers, and a long-time subscriber.  I already subscribe to BJI, and there is no comparison - apples and oranges.

BTW, I talked to another local guy yesterday, and he said he just received his issue on Monday.  I wouldn't be surprised to see mine in the next day or two.

Nice note you posted to let everybody know about the mail problem. I always get mine towards the end of the month except for this issue and I've been a subscriber since the days of the newspaper format. Thanks again for a well informed magazine.

My son's May issue arrived Friday (5/26).  It was wrapped in plastic, but I don't know why.  Often, when the postal service destroys something, they wrap it in plastic, but that was not the case here.  My son's May BTM was in perfect condition.
