Building a new aresnal, need help!!!
« on: February 23, 2017, 07:04:55 PM »
Hey all, looking to take the one ball I have now, and actually make an aresnal (with or without it). Currently I have a Columbia Nitrous, it likes light oil. I'm a 2 handed cranker, medium/high speed (17mph), high revs.

Looking to make a 2 ball aresnal (or 3 with the nitrous). Suggestions? Looking to cover the basics, light oil to heavy and everything in-between. Mainly bowl leagues, possibly a tournament in the future. So looking to stay pretty cheap.

I bowled with a buddies Storm Phaze II and Roto Grip Daredevil. And really liked both of them. If that helps, thanks in advance!!

Are you looking to stay in the Ebonite family, or are you open to other companies?

I am a two  hander also. You need a Urethane ball in there somewhere. You can see my arsanal and what I throw. I love my scandal solid for heavy oil. The timeless I like a lot. The urethane is when the lanes get dry. When I go to league play my three ball arsanal is the scandal, timeless and the hammer blue urethane or viral hybrid.

I personally am a Motiv fan.  If it were me and I was making something for a high rev bowler in the Motiv family, I would suggest the Chronic Paranoia and the Venom Cobra.  Combined with the Nitrous below it would be a great combination for most shots less than true heavy oil.

With that said, I have seen great results from the Tyrant Pearl and the Sideswipe Solid.  These are in the Columbia family and would match well with your current Nitrous.  The Tyrant Pearl isn't skid/flip but a very controllable move at the breakpoint.  The Sideswipe Solid will allow you to play the more wet/dry type conditions with ease.

Optimus Solid is on sale now if your looking for a good heavy oil ball for less. I always encourage whomever your Pro Shop guys is to have them look at you throw it, and make a few ball recommendations for your playstyle.   8)
