Smoother ball for dry lanes ??
« on: February 21, 2009, 08:17:44 AM »
Which would be a smoother ball for dried out, beat up lanes, a no core reactive ball like the Hammer Razyr, or a urethane like the Brunswick Groove Urethane ??

I'm looking for a nice smooth arc from the line to the pins, no jumping or doing anything crazy.

Get the Groove Urethane, the Razyr hooks a ton and is snappy on the backend. Believe me I have around 500 rpms and cant hardly get the Groove to move on medium lanes, my BWC hooks more than it, so definately a better dry lane ball.

I think I'm going to snag up a Groove. For $47 shipped,I can't go wrong. I just have never thrown a urethane, and don't know anything about their reaction.
I'm just looking for a nice even bow shaped arc with no snap to it. Something to try when my polished ball is getting too squirrely with the chewed up oil.
If I can salvage those nights with easy spares all night, I'll be happy with it.

I'm starting to realize why it is called "tweener hell".

Try one of the Motiv balls.  Exactly what you are looking for...

From my SX-1, they're far too strong for dry lanes or light oil.

My favorite ball is the Blue/Green Centaur from Visionary. Real core, medium-high RG, super low differential, very smooth and very adaptable mild solid resin coverstock. Hit like a ... very hard.

LM hornet is very smooth. It will still hook quite a bit on drier lanes but its not snappy at all.

RG -the link. Used a friend's this past sat. Great leangth with a hard arc on some pretty toated lanes. It moved hard off the breakpoint, probably due to the aggressive drilling, but this piece was quite a suprise to me indeed.
