what are your fall shots like
« on: September 08, 2007, 07:13:27 AM »
leagues have been going for about amonth now and i declare the shots are worse now than they were during the summer for open bowl. Practice all summer ,get new equipment and have to use 10 year old urethane balls in order to keep em in the pocket. My friday night shot is really weird, its like they put oil out to 25 feet.We didnt see carry down until the end of the 2nd game which makes it hard to use the weak stuff, but the heads are so light that anything strong hooks as soon as it hits the floor

Our shot is just as easy as it was last year.  You don't even have to determine where to stand or what mark to use.  I am able to stand on the same board every week, use the same target and use the same ball.  It is the same board, target and ball that I used last year.

That is why I added a PBA league this year.  A real condition.

This year will be a 44 foot sport compliant shot for me.
Awaiting the average dip...

We have bowled 2 weeks and had 4 300 games and 3 800 series. I haven't shot 600 yet

Well we had a PBA league that ran over the summer and they say that it takes time to work any change in pattern into or out of the rollers and brushes.  Tuesday was the PBA league and Wednesday was a two-person mixed league and I swear we got a lot of leftover PBA oil on Wednesday.

Now that the fall leagues are in full swing, it's more like what we experienced last year.  Normal house-ish shot, not the easiest house around according to some of the better bowlers.  After bowling state in another house, I can say that our house is definitely not as easy as that one.

Both houses have new pins!  Its a struggle, but once they are broken in a bit, all should be well.

Our typical house shot doesn't change, so its nothing that I wasn't prepared for. 39 feet, dry outside.

bowled all summer on horrible conditions...

went after a league got over last wednesday...and had 4 out of 5 games in the 200's...didn't have to move that much either...actually had normal ball reaction and whatnot...was kinda fun...throwing two balls in a row on the same line and having them do the same thing....hasn't happened for awhile

New London lanes has pretty heavy shot with snappy backends longer oil than most. Bowled all summer on PBA patterns it is difficult getting the tougher shots out of my head when I am going to bowl on something easier

The lanes have been on the dry side all Summer but very playable. Last year I remember there being a little more volume out there so maybe when it's cooler with lower humidity the shot will hold up a little better? The one place I bowl at oils in the am, allows open play all day so the shot is slightly different every week. I'm not a fan of this but surprisingly this shot is better than the one at my local lanes where they oil before the league and I'm constantly moving left all night.

Sweet God, the shot was garbage tonight.  We get the second-shift remnants from a men's league at noon, then birthday parties and stuff after that.  They run a short head fill of oil that carries down straight to the back right before we bowl.  No matter what angle I played my Total NV would turn the corner too late and leave a ringing or weak 10 pin on the left lane every pitch (and if I hit high flush, I invariably left a 7 pin!).  Finally when the heads dried a bit I was able to switch to the Spit Fire and play a tighter line with it and throw some strikes, but MAN I had to be accurate with it.  Just One board right left a super-weak 7 pin and one board left resulted in a 4-7-9-10.  It reminded me a lot of the problems I faced on the Shark pattern in my PBA Experience league over the summer!!  I struggled my way to a 620.

My Tuesday night shot, on the other hand, is the easiest walled-up shot I've ever seen.  I felt like I bowled mediocre at best this week and still had a 691 (I missed an 8 pin early in the first game just because I flat missed my mark like a dummy).

Easy House week 1 i shoot 683 high on my team second on the pair

Harder house week 1 i shoot 543 carrydown golore have to use aggressive stuff, shiny skates 55 feet never picks up any type of roll. Open play was going on until league started on my pair 3 people using plastic house balls. I was high on the pair but the bowlers on my pair were just that bad.

Monday night the hard house again but will have totally ball lineup just in case, probably throw an extra double tote in the car giving me 6 strike balls total if needed.
