Title: Buying a Router
Post by: htotheizzo3561 on January 26, 2017, 10:17:04 AM
I have been using a plug cutter for a few years but am interested in buying a router to cut down slugs and plugs.  I was looking at innovative bowling however they want $275 for the kit.  A little more than I wanted to spend.

While I understand the shield is special to contour the bowling ball, is the bit special too?

Assuming any router from a decent manufacturer will do.

You can attach the shield to about any router that has a big enough base.  The one thing you want to look for is a router with a finer adjustment thread than the Makita shown.  This makes it much easier to adjust to the ball.

One site where you can buy the shield is linked below.  The price has gone up quite a bit, when I bought mine in 2003 it was about $50, now almost $100.  --  JohnP
