While there are a ton of good balls out there to choose from, I'd want a little more info about you and the type of ball you need/want before suggesting any of 30 or 40 possible selections.
I mean
A. Do you want to cover light to medium-light oil or medium-light to medium oil.? Few balls can cover light to medium.
B. Are you rev dominant or speed dominant or neutral?
If you're rev dominant, a 300C can cover medium-light to medium oil.
If you're speed dominant, that same ball will cover light to medium-light oil.
To combine A, and B above:
If you're speed dominant and want to cover medium-light to medium oil, you would want a 500 series ball.
If you're rev dominant and and want to cover light to medium-light, you might want a Brunswick Strike King or a Storm Tropical Breeze.
So, "who" are you? and what do you want/need?
I would say I'm pretty much in the middle. Speed is about average, maybe a tad on the slower side of that and revs are about average. I'm definitely not cranking it, but its not low rev, slow as molasses either. Not sure if it helps ( or matters) but I'm also a high track roller.
What I'm looking for is a ball for when a THS ( something in the medium range) breaks down or when things are a bit more on the dry side. So I guess thats more light to light-medium than medium-light to medium.
Basically right now my Medium ball is a Storm Eraser, and its great on medium patterns, but when things start drying out or are a little more dry I have a pretty big problem keeping it right. Really I need something that's a step down from that. Eventually I'm going to replace the Eraser as well, so if it overlaps a bit that's not going to be a huge problem in the long run.
Right now what I'm using for that is my old Blood Red Beast thats polished up, I just break everything down almost like throwing spares and play more down and in. Problem is if both those lines break down on me (or someone else is using the same line) I'm screwed
Not even sure one ball can cover both, I may need two different ones, but basically I need something for things are broke down, or for when I walk in a house and throw the Eraser and wish I had something else weaker heh.
My shot looks almost exactly like the guys in this video:
