and buddies can oval your thumb properly, make sure your thumb is ok, and make sure your bevel is correct?

I guess the times are soon to come where you just put your hand up to the monitor and take a picture.  Then everyone can drill for you.

Don't say that too loud, I think Bowl, Boobs, CBB, suggested that a while back.

A great question would be are you drilling your self, or having your local shop or someone else drill them for you?

I just bought a NIB Wild Thing for $69 shipped off Ebay and Morich Levrg- response for $65 shipped. I have my own press so the only other cost is $3 for a slug.

If taking them to a local shop it would have cost me about $70 a ball to have them drilled, which would have still been about $50 cheaper then what they are selling in the shop for. Your shop may be more or less.

Usually if you are going to buy in quantity talk to the shop owner. He will get you the best deal in most cases.

My personal favorites are Ebay, bowlingball.com, and the local shop for old stock found in back.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

Wow.  The OP asked for recommendations about online sites for the cheapest prices, and this completely turned into the typical "online vs local" debate.

But, since everybody else has jumped in, here's mine.

There is usually no price difference between buying online or through my local shop.  Take the BW Nasty.  It's $129 at Buddies.  It's $189 at the shop.  His drilling price is $60.  Add $17 if you want inserts and slug.  Adjustments after final fitting are full price ($10 for thumb work, $35 resurface, $7 for new inserts, etc).

He'll tell you his cost on that ball is around $115-120.  I don't know if that's true or not, and don't really care.  He stocks no more than 10 balls, but can get anything in a day or 2.

Anything other than Storm, Ebonite, and Hammer and he'll probably tell you the ball isn't any good, or he doesn't know much about it.  Label or stacked is what you'll get, and it's good for every ball out there.  Every new ball out there is too aggressive anyways - the centers don't put down enough oil.

But, he'd probably cut you a deal if you wanted to buy 4 balls at once.

Face it, not everybody has a great pro shop.  Maybe there's a reason he wants to buy online?

Actually they can it's called an Ultimate thumb they use, it's a mold of your thumb goes right in the bowling ball fits like a glove.

+1

I've had Buddies drill about 4 balls for me over these last couple of months, and they got my thumb hole right the first time, every time.  Crazy to think I'm out here in Cali, and the shops locally can't get my thumb right the 1st time...

Through them I get the pin distance I want and usually have it on my doorstep in 5 days....The Virtual Energy I paid 150$ drilled for I've seen others paying 229$ for.  For what?

You make sense Q.  Not everyone has a good shop.  Many don't know enough to know whether or not they have a good shop.  Some are just plain cheap, dollars bottom line.

As to the OP, Buddies or bowlingball.com are the ones I have used a couple times, and never ever had a problem.

Check us out at bowlingballdiscounts.com We have very competitive rates and offer drilling as well.  We tend to stay out of all the hoopla which makes us not very well known but have a very long line of success.  2 drillers with 13 years combined drilling at the Brunswick booth at nationals, 2 Brunswick staff members, and a Storm staffer working for us.  We drill for many regional and national touring pros.  So we have a long line of local success in brick and mortar shops first then decided to also get into the online biz.  We get as close to wanted specs as we possibly can unless on discontinued materials.  Give us a look and see for yourselves! Thanks!

I agree, goto your favorite local pro-shop and see what he can do for you 2 since 4 ball's are involved. SUPPORT THE PROSHOP!!!!

My pro shop charge's $65 per ball not bought from him NIB

I'm all for supporting the local guy, but IMO, that's gouging.  I would go out of my way to avoid doing business with that guy/gal if for no other reason than just principle.

Talk to some of the sellers here on BR.  Many of the proshops will drill equipment too and bundle it with the new ball purchase.
