Well, what really defines "midlane". This is a relative term.
Right now, my house oils to 38 and buffs to 40 or so. The backends are fresh. The backends aren't real big depending on your game. They are tame enough to play an inside shot, say 17 out to 10, but they are aggressive enough that you can get away with a few more revs and do 17 out to 5. My biggest problem has always been balls rolling up too early for me, so I'd perfer a longer pattern, but stripped backends. Say 45 foot pattern.
A good example: Take the fired up. This ball for most people is probably skid/snap depending on how its drilled. Most bowlers who throw it at my house get about 42 or 43 feet of length. This is about a foot or two past the buffed oil. For me however, This ball gets to about 39 or 40, right at the transition from oil to dry. This ball for me hard arcs, not skid/snap. This is the same for my crash, which actually revs up 3-4 feet earlier. It is drilled pin under however. Some houses require more angle to kick the 10's out. Mine is one of them. You will leave a 10 if you throw a ball that has a smooth arc.
